Believe it or not, the bottom of my son's shoes melted when he stepped onto the deck in the back yard.

Beth left for Tucson this afternoon. Between the temps in the 90's and the high humidity, she was ready to go..the grass is always greener I guess...
Steve,
I have a group of managers that I support in AZ. They are helping me to understand dry heat. They liken it to that burst of heat in your face when you open the oven door. :o
I had to travel there in March, shortly after all the rain they had. I had read about it on the internet that for the first time they had rivers that looked and flowed like rivers. I couldn't understand what they meant by that. As I was flying into the Phoenix airport I saw what the rivers normally look like-a dried up river bed with a bridge span acrossed it. Now I understand rivers in AZ. Also, my managers told me that when it does rain in AZ that most of the people go outside and stare up at the sky since it is such a rarity.
Thankfully it wasn't too hot yet! I do hate the hot and humid, but don't think I would be crazy about just HOT!

It's funny - in AZ, they mist you with water to cool you down. In suburban Phila, the humidity is like a constant mist blowing on us, but it doesn't keep us cool.
...Just ask me...
That's exactly what it's like. And entering a car that has been sitting in the midday (or even morning) sun is even worse.Originally Posted by Cindy Hamlin

As a sales rep in the deep South, you inside the building guys and gals - don't really quite register much sympathy. I 'm sorry - I guess you do go outside to grab a little lunch from your air-conditioned office to your air conditioned car to the air conditioned restaurant.
Zyl frames are melting in the van at this very moment. You do tend to shed a few pounds lugging bags, providing you don't have a heat stroke or pass out.

No need to be sorry. I wasn't asking for sympathy, and if I were I know better than to expect any from you. ;)Originally Posted by rep
Except for mowing and trimming the lawn at 4:00pm yesterday when it was 115, I've been able to stay away from the heat. That's one of the main advantages of working out of the home. :)

As some one with multiple health problems, I would love to either heave (Sorry)or lay down and die. I have decided to stay indoors from start to finish during the day then venture outside for lunch. I look forward to Fall.I also can't eat during this time.
AND WE WORRY ABOUT EVERY ONE ELSE AND NOT OUR OWN,,,,YES, SANTA, BUSH, THINKS WE DONT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT BUT,,,, THERE ARE MORE RESPIRATORY DISEASES THAN EVER BEFORE. THOSE USING oXYGEN TANKS THAT LIGHT UP IN OUR OFFICE BATHROOM, I FEAR ARE SLEEPER CELLS. ARE THEY UNDER INVESTIGATION WITH HOMELAND SECURITY? MAYBE WE WILL CURE THEM BY REPORTING THEM. THE BEST LESON FORTHESE WITH A DEATH WISH IS TO BE IN COMFORT AT THEIR DISCRESSTION.
MAY GOD BLESS US AND KEEP US. MAY HE GIVE US PEACE.

Now Bev that's not entirely true. In fact I heard just today that Bush is in favor of changing over to the Celsius system just to prove that the Earth is getting cooler, not warmer. This means that we were only 46.6 degrees C today, instead of 116 degrees F.Originally Posted by Bev Heishman

Well Steve that sure makes our forcasted 101-105 not seem all that bad:bbg:
Besides the fact it seems like our forcasters are always on the high side, it was supposed to be 102 yesterday and only got to 95.
I would have loved to have seen a picture of your sons shoe!!

C'mon, Steve, if you didn't get a picture of that one, can't you just melt another?
Time to head to San Diego for a vacation....
Well we tore out the lawn in the back when we put in the pool. There's still a small patch of Bermuda grass in the front, but everything else is rock and desert landscape. One of the days I'll remove the grass in the front too.Originally Posted by shanbaum
Believe it or not, we actually use less water after removing the grass in the back and replacing it with a pool. And that grass only took up leess than a quarter of the backyard.
