    As promised............ Pictures

    Hi There

I asked a question a while ago about some "wrap around" sunglasses with total mirror reflection.

I gave up on getting those on advice from my optician, and ordered a pair of Ray Ban instead.

The curve is not as sharp, as on those I originally wanted. But I like these in a metal frame, where the other were supposed to have been rimless.

Anyway, I promised some pics as well once I got them done, and that is now;) :p

The lenses are Clarlet 1,6 High Index. And the frame is as I mentioned by Ray Ban:)

I am happy with these glasses I must say:D

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me:)

    Brian:)

Nice pics, actually some of the nicest i've seen on the board. I'm glad your happy with your glasses. Obviously they're not polarised or they couldn't place the bevel like that.
From the pics it does not look like the full-out mirror look that you were describing but one of the new "flash" mirror versions. It could just be the pictures but yeah, they look really sharp.

For Jeff Trail. In regards to my high minus wrap thread on the OO board. Would this be a good example of a 8 base bevel on 2-4 base lenses?

Thanks again for the pics MB.

    Enjoy

Those have to be either .50 or 1 base lenses. Back when I still worked in a lab I did a few pairs of 4 base polarized in similarly wrapped Raybans that turned out exceptionaly well. Don't think I would have attempted something that extreme though.

    Thanks for the nice words:)

No they are not with a full-out mirror look. they couldn't promise that, so I just asked them to make them as dark as possible.

I have put some extrta light on the glasses, so they actually appear much lighter than they are for real.

    Thanks again!

    They could have been Polarized......

and the bevel placed exactly where it is......IF they were nupolar lenses. The polarizing filter is in the matrix of the lens and is not laminated.

Next time around, give it a try.....great pix- what kind of camera took them?

Sorry, you guys/girls have lost me with all the technical stuff:p

Anyway, the camera is just a regular digital camera. Olympus C2020 Zoom.

it's a couple of years old, and is not being produced anymore.

    I love you guys

Who, but a bunch of optical gurus like you guys would be discussing the base curves of lenses and the 8 base bevel. I love it. Could be the start of a thread of photos as a learning thread, i.e. discussion.

Think of it. photos with instructions, etc., right here on Optiboard. Talk about distance learning!!!

Hey minusboy, I like that last shot where it looks like you can see out a window through the lenses.

Steve, you should make a picture forum for people who want to showcase their work or who want some constructive criticism. Minusboys pictures are really good. Is it a question of too much bandwidth?

I could do this. Do you mean strictly pictures of Ophthalmic works or general photography?

I mean strictly opthalmic. It's easy to find pictures of anything else on the web. This would be a lot more specialized. One of the 3d forums I subscribe to members post pictures of their work and ask for criticisms. Giver a go and lets see what turns up

    Ken

ps:Kudos to Minusboy for looking so cool during a heatwave. It's 34 degrees celcius here today so I can kind of relate.

Remind me about this in a couple of months after I update the software. The new version will show the attached pictures as thumbnails which you can click on to see the full pic. This'll be a lot friendlier to people on dial-up connections.

Cool, I could get a new forum started;)

I can share other pics as well of my other glasses (if any of you want). They are more normal though. One cheap pair, and one unbelievable expensive one (Lindberg frame)

It looks more like a 6 base bevel.
