Is there good clinical evidence that Lutein and/oir Zeaxanthin are safe & effective?

Many eyecare professionals recommend PreserVision® for "eye care", presumably AMD and/or cataracts. When looking at papers, the evidence seems weak or conflicting. Attached is a photo of the"Supplemental Facts" on the PreserVision label. Any comments?
