    Just business talk

    Hello there, I'll tell yah now that for all of you this is just review you know this by heart, trial & error and experience.

    you got the business property and equipment all the legal stuff.
    Just big dillema, where do you get Single Vision lenses for Inventory to make a 1-hour service for the customer.
    There are so many companies and lots of products. I know that i shouldn't buy Progressive, High Index, Photochromatic/Transitional and may be Bifocal lenses for inventory for sure these type just for Lab to produce.

    Do you get SVL from labs or manufacturers or vendors.
    in which powers do I need to get the SVL?
    i know that it will both in "-" and "+" but in what range?
    will it depend on diversity of age population.?

    Do you ask many people to find out the right company for different types of lenses?

    FeedBack is appreciated.

    Odtech, most of the lens companies will help you analyze your needs and give you a suggested inventory of stock lenses based on your current usage.

    With a limited usage of english vocabulary i have had you fooled to think that i bought a store, not intentionally but just the way the question was introduced. Steve thanks very much.

    Over in the Optical Marketplace forum, there's a few listings of places that sell finished lenses. Looking at some of these might be a good place to start.

    another great topic, which is 1 billion percent u use and do in the store.

    "RECOMMENDING LENSES BY RANGE POWERS/Rx"
    i know u look at the current profession, major chief complaint, and by these u service them.

    Poly, Plastic/Cr-39, Hi-Index, and Prog.

    i know its called prescription analyzying
    Process: U look at the Rx and tell which lens material will be better off for the individuals' Rx.

    Give me some examples of Rx and which one of the above suits best.

    Best bet would be to refer the prospective client to an eyecare professional who would be able to understand their needs.

    The difference in Sag Formulas

    The teacher's method of the "Sagital Depth Formula"

    Sag=(d/2)xD/2000(n-1)
    d=Center thickness of the lens at __mm.
    D=Power of the lens
    n-1=Index of refraction

    plus lens= Ct=sag+Et
    minus lens= Et=sag+Ct

    ET=Edge Thickness
    CT=Center Thickness

    "System of Ophthalmic Dispensing" pages 406-408

    r=Y2/2s+s/2

    r=radius of circle

    Whoever has this book i want to know what is the difference between the 2 formulas and how they're used in real practice.

    Feedback appreciated

    Od Tech,

    The best part of this industry is there is no one best answer for any prescription. The most important tool we have as professionals is the ability to listen to our patients. We can use our knowledge of products in order to find the products that with benefit our patients the most. It's like a puzzle with no box to look at. The Rx, lenses, frame, and patient are the pieces and it is our job to put them together in the best possible way. I've learned more in this industry by doing, than by reading any books. Don't be scared to make mistakes, just learn from them.
    Good luck.
