Thinking about opening a retail location and you have no idea to where you can locate wholesaler's :-) Nice try but I think I smell "carp"..hmm...trout...flounder? ..well something "fishy" ..:-)
Maybe if you posted some further information we might help out.. one thing to remember volume is the name of the game if you want discounted prices ... Nothing personal but I have had tons of people who always want to buy "wholesale" who are not in the field .. and if I had a penny for everyone that tried the line of "I'm an optical and want some prices" and they are NOT I could have paid cash for my daughters college education :-)
Since this is a "free" site with public access we are going to go a long with Steve and I doubt if anyone will post the price for a "cheap" good lens..BTW those two terms are not always compatiable

Are you in the optical trade at present ??
Actually, I am not in the optical field, my partner is. I just got money and I am going to invest in his store. I did get some price from China, I thought it was cheap compare to what most people sell them in their store. But yesterday I heard some price from my friends who works in "eye master" and the price he told me was a lot lower than what I get from china. I thought china suppose to be cheap, and I didn't want to get ripped off. That's why i come here and ask for a price. I am pretty sure "eye master" can get them cheaper than me since they order a huge volume, but 75% cheaper seems too much.
Do you have Cosco in Texas?:bbg:
Hi All,
I am in a very similar situation, I am looking to buy some CR39 Lenses (for single vision sunglasses) and I really need some guidance. I have a small dream of creating some Frames and try to create a new brand out of it. I know many people will tell me is very hard and you shouldnt go into it but I really wanna try and it really is a dream for me. At this point I dont have much knowladge about lenses and I need Cheap UV protecion lenses to use on my new frames. I thought about CR39 Lenses since they are better priced. I am planing to buy around 50 lenses or so for now but I dont want to find some random online store from China and get scamed. I would really appriciate If someone could guide me for buying such lenses and maybe give me an rough estimate on how much it would cost. Any info would be much appriciated.
P.S: Would CR39 lenses be a good choice for someone who is looking for some cheap UV protected lenses to use on a new experimental Frame + Brand??
You are in Montreal..................call Kleargo, Centennial, SB, Essilor, all of them in town. You can also UV them yourself.
Hey Chris, Thanks a lot for the info, I am outside Canada at the moment residing in Miami, So can I get Clear Uncut CR39 an Uv them?? Sorry if my questions are a bit of but I really am trying to learn. Also if I uv lenses are they fade by time?? Is it healty to UV lenses after purchase? Thanks
Acculab of Illinois has the best prices in the country!!! Separate yourself from the rest and do all Digital lenses!
For all these folks (and their "friends") that want to open optical stores, labs, etc., and have little/no knowledge of what they are about to get into, here's a suggestion:
Take a few hundred dollars, buy a few plane tickets, and head out to Vision Expo in Vegas. Talk to the people that are doing it every day. Spend your time roaming the exhibit halls, and stand in the background and listen. Those of you really listening will have their answer and be able to enjoy the rest of their stay partying and enjoying themselves.
Regardless of what you decide to do, at least you'll get a nice (tax deductible) vacation out of it, as opposed to throwing a bunch of money at a start up, and having nothing to show for it.

A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
"Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
"Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."
