Blue Jumper Predictions for the optical industry for 2014 .......................................

    Happy New Year To All
Make a prediction on what is going to happen in our optical field, sometimes in the coming 12 month of the New Year 2014

This thread will be available as long as OptiBoard will be alive and whatever you predict for the New Year 2014 is going to be on record. You will be able to verify that your predictions did materialize or not, as you said.

I'm still waiting for the release of that new progressive lens design - a hybrid 4 sided design cut from a block of new and improved thin and light resin to provide the ultimate 360 degree visual field experience. Complete with blue light blockers, 3D aberration filters, multiple areas of activation and radial aspherization technology in all quadrants, it shall be the best design ever.

It's true, I read it in multiple magazines this year.

As for predictions, I predict that we will continue to get better at making predictions, but hindsight will reveal that many of them were wrong, and we believed them.

    Happy New Year to all!

Essilor buys Facebook, then has "visibility" into everyone and everything.

More and more designer frame brands will be sold inexpensively in Walmart and Costco and other big box venues.

The lower and mid-range buyers will flock to chains and discounters, creating new opportunities for mid to high-end clients at independent and luxury eyewear practices. Major manufacturers will finally create such an impenetrable maze of similar products that independents will look like and become geniuses.

Redhot Jumper I predict that .............................

I predict that my innocent thread "Wisdom To Start The Day" will show a half a million views, soon at the beginning of 2014.

I am wondering if that is not only a record for OptiBoard, as this is the only forum I am participating and am familiar with.

My prediction for 2014, is that my hair will continue to gray and that I will suffer from a small stroke brought on by a new health plan implemented through the new Obama Health Care Act in conjunction with WA state.

+1, there is a huge emerging market for premium, independent and artistic optical products.
