Karen, Got time and place on the Marchon party? Son David and I are flying out for the trade show, like to "audit" Diane's and your classes. you're driving right?
Be there or be square :) that's my motto..Me and the "slave" driver (wife :))are going with bells on.. even thinking of making a longer trip out of it and heading to Dallas afterwards to drop in on my Bro.. andsqueeae in a trip out to see Darris and Chad :) Show them a a good ole' boy from West Virginia (relocated to FL.) can knock back a few as well as you Texan's...
I know the show for sure the rest is a maybe ... I get lost when I start wondering through the exhibits, my wife compares me to a drug addict locked up in a pharmacy .. get that glazed look and alot of ooh's and ahh's..
If nobody has ever got a chance to go to one of the major shows then GO.. they are informative as well as fun.. and you get to meet alot of people that ACTUALLY understand what the heck you are talking about and don't get this lost look when you start talking optics.. I have made friends over the years at shows that we still hook up ever so often..well worth the trip..

Let me first say for the record that Marchon is EVIL and should be erradicated from the optical industry ;-)
Second, Jeff you need to come on down and pay Chad and I a little visit. We're about four hours south of Dallas and we'll learn ya' goodly about our tolerance for alkeehol. :-)
Sorry that we won't be able to make it. I'd sure like to meet some "real" opticians and not the self-proclaimed wonders of opticianry like I met in Nawlins (Judy and a couple of others not included in the "self-proclaimed" part :-)

I think we should definitely all try to meet. Al - the Marchon party is usually on Friday night. People just show up at their booth and get a wrist band. Last year it was at the Flamingo Hilton. If we meet there, though, we'd have to be really time specific because they get 6,000 +/- at their parties.
Maybe we could meet at a booth (Jobson?...Karlen will likely be there if we want a photo)... Maybe Sat. late afternoon when all the classes are over?

We're going to fly in Wednesday because there are courses both of us want to take on Thursday. We won't fly out until Sunday so when ever people want to meet is fine.
I think Laurie is right about the Marchon party. We went last year & spent a couple of hours looking for someone we actually knew! It was fun, but what a zoo!
I'll watch for what people think as we get closer, but I am looking forward to meeting some of you!!

Darris, if you go four hours "south of Dallas, you'll be in Austin!! surely you meant "west"? Or were you tryin to throw them off you're trail. Go to Vegas Darris! It's cheap flyin. Laurie, I think the Jobson booth would be fine! BTW, what do people wear to these things, should we bring our spurs? We're usually pretty relaxed, but can clean up OK. get the boots polished, etc. Al.

If you look half as handsome as you did in Portugal, you will be more than appropriate.
The only required clothing I'm aware of at the Marchon party is dancing shoes!
Steve, we'll have to meet early enough so you can make it. I'm flying in Friday afternoon and teaching a couple of seminars until 3:00 on Sat. How about 3:00 or 3:30? Is that good for other optiboarders?

I'll be there Friday thru Sunday (arriving in LV Thursday afternoon; haven't decided yet whether to drive it or fly) and am staying at Harrah's. Would really like to meet fellow Optiboarders, so hope everyone can agree on a time/place. I'll probably be hanging out at the Western Optical Supply booth most of the time. We are staying at Harrah's also. They have a cool little bar and stage area outside with performers almost all day. The bartenders are fun to watch.

Hey Y'all,
Let's get together at the Jobson booth for an "official" OptiBoard photoshoot. Can we "shoot" for Friday afteroon? Say, 4:00 p.m.? That's about the only time I have that looks like it will work for the majority of the OptiBoarders. I don't have the Jobson booth number yet, but I'll post it later or you can look it up in your programs once you get there. Let's get everyone, especially our Fearless Leader Steve, to show up and immortalize the moment. Let me know ASAP on the Board so we can get a definate "we're doing it when" time/place/date and headcount so I know whether to bring a wide angle lens or not.
4pm Friday sounds good for me! Hope it works out - looking forward to seeing new faces and some old ones too <lol>
