    Greatest Movies of all time

My brother just ask me to name the ten best movies I have ever seen. I have a list of about 200 films, but for me, there are certain films where there are characters who are SO strong, you cannot wait for them to get back onto the screen again. Each scene they appear in makes you sit up in your seat wondering what they will do next. And so, I started naming films with characters like this. I came up with 20.

Batman the Dark Knight had Heath Ledger as the Joker

Al Pacino as Scarface or Dog Day Afternoon

    Geoffrey Rush in Shine

    Jack Nicholson in The Shining

Daniel Day-Lewis is There Will Be Blood

Clint Eastwood in Pale Rider, Unforgiven, or the Outlaw Josey Wales

    John Wayne in True Grit

Robert DeNiro in Cape Fear or Raging Bull

    The Nerd in Napolian Dynamite

The Creepy guy in No Country for Old men

    Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump

Morgan Freeman in just about anything but I would go with Shawshenk Redemption or Unfinished Life

Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs

    Leonardo DeCaprio in the Departed

James Cagney in Angels with Dirty Faces

Jim Carey in the Truman Show

    Kevin Spacey in American Beauty

    Robert Duvall in Apocolypse Now

Marlon Brando in The Godfather or teahouse of the august moon

    Robert Downy Jr. IN Chaplin

    Am i missing anything here?

I have a video called Deja View which is the Power Of 60's Music with The Power of 80's Video.
Basically it's a bunch of old songs with new videos in collaboration with the original artists.Excellent!
Anyway, one of the videos, The Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby" features a young Melora Hardin (different Melora ) and there's one spot where they have a tight closeup of her and she breaks into a slow grin that will just melt you.

I totally agree. He blew me away in that role.

For me, my favs would be

True Romance - Everyone was great. though I would've cast Chris Isaac as Elvis rather than Val Kilmer

Godfather - Any of them. Yes, even the 3rd.

    Reservoir Dogs

Happy Gilmore - makes me laugh every time I see it

My former uncle played Lincoln in Bill and Ted. He also wrote a few Bonanza episodes (Hoss & The Leprechauns) and played a variety of roles, such as Red Ranger on Night Court.
    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0057715/

Some of you younger anime fans might also recognize some of his work.

Funny note: In "Destiny's Child" on Bonanza, he wrote that episode with the lead in mind for his friend Richard Kiel. Dick was unavailable at the time it was shot so they got another actor for the lead role. My uncle had a small part with one line in the episode.
Setup: A mentally challenged man (Dick KIel originally) has been hassled by the town and the huge guy goes on a rampage.
My uncle is lying beside a fallen log across the trail, moaning. Dan Blocker (Hoss) rides up, steps over the log, and asks my uncle if he's OK. My uncle's line is "I think I have a couple of broken ribs!"
    OK - take one.
Dan blocker rides up steps over the log, slips and falls on my skinny uncle actually breaking two ribs.
Take two. Uncle Bob really put feeling into his line due to his actual broken ribs.

Oh, and his pen name was Christian Anderson, so he could say "Look ma, No Hans!"
Humor like that runs deep in our family.

I have my "sewing room" movies so I can time how long I've been sitting at my machines. For instance, my daughter's senior prom dress took Star Wars IV, V and VI (the first three) to complete. Among my other favorites are Gone With the Wind and The Sound of Music. I can do dialogue(or sing along) and they have an intermission for food. Casablanca is good for short projects, as is Chicago and any of the original James Bonds with Sean Connery.
