Sick Leave for Grubie

I just wanted to let everyone here know that I will be MIA for a few weeks. I go in for surgery on Wednesday to *hopefully* finally fix my pancreas issues for good.

It’s a pretty major surgery, I will be in the hospital for a week, and at home recovering for about 6-8 weeks after that. They will be removing my spleen, a part of my pancreas, and my most recent pseudocyst.

I know some of you know this already, but it’s probably new news to others. Just don’t worry if I’m not around for a few days. Feel free to PM me, and I will respond once I’m up to it.

In the meantime, to cheer up the mood, here are a few new pics of my little girl. Eliza has started eating rice cereal now :)

Perhaps you will be fortunate enough to post something from the hospital after your surgery.

I was attendiing a friend of mine in one of the local hospitals a few weeks ago and they had free Internet access from two workstations, one in the hospital cafeteria and the other in the main lobby.

But when I tried to access OptiBoard--it was filtered out.

I guess I'm going to be the first to say "Good luck and looking forward to your recovery".

Best wishes to you for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. I'm sure having such a cute daughter around will certainly raise your spirits.

I do have an iphone so I might be able to post from the hospital, but realistically that ain’t gonna be happening. I’ll be in ICU for at lest a day or two. This is a pretty major workup. I’ll be slit open like a baked potato and that will probably keep me from going down to the cafeteria too quickly. :)

Thanks Everyone,

Counting down the hours now…only 15 to go. I’ll be at the hospital checking in at 6:15 a.m. tomorrow.

It’s funny but I’ve almost been more worried about the office and how it will handle my extended absence than I am about how I will recover. We are a very busy practice and we’ve added a new doctor recently, who will be seeing his first patients next week.

Hey Grubie;

Just think how much the office will appreciate you when you do get back. Take care of yourself and let "Nurse Eliza" tend to you. I'm sure spending time with such a sweet little girl will make your feel better.
