I think i am going to frame it and put it on the wall for the next patient that tells me how good his/her insurance pays for the glasses
It is going to be good for my children and grandchildren to see how it all started:hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

    Lenny,

    I feel your pain!

Seems I could have saved the 28 years I spent building skills as an Optician. I should have
spent a few months learning to be an insurance
clerk instead, since that's what I seem to be now!

I just hope the I.R.S. doesn't see your post and
want part of your windfall from Blue Cross!:D

As my Dad used to say.....

    Lenny,
As my Dad used to say.."It beats getting hit in the head with a clam shell..." (old Cape Cod expression) At least you finished the day with more than you had when you started it!:)

Lenny, just another reason why we're not a participating provider under medicare or medicaid, and i'm not sure why anyone would be. Sorry, but we all need a bit of humor in our work. Best wishes.

That penny . . .that beautiful little copper penny is the gateway to wealth.
Double it each day for the next year.
Ya know how much you'll have?

Well, like someone (Ben Franklin?) once said, "A penny saved is a penny earned!"

I guess this is just another example of how overpaid we are as healthcare providers...

A whopping $667.95, to be exact! (Unless it's a leap year, then you end up with 671.61).

Stick out tongue That copper penny

Ok, I wasn't gonna jump on this thread and say anything about that silly BCBS check (considering it cost them more to mail it than it was worth)...but Blake, buddy!!!!

That penny, doubled each day...just after 17 days of doubling, I'm up to 1310.72. Now, I absolutely despise math (crazy thing for an optician to say, right?) but sometimes I feel compelled....

what kinda calculator you got?? Not company issue, I hope!
    :drop: Love Ya! jP

It wasn't the calculator's fault - it was "operator error". I added a penny each day, when I should have doubled the total amount (1+2+4+8+...).

Using sum(2^n) where n goes from 0 to 365, you get 1.5*10^108... that's an awful lot of pennies!

The calculator is a TI-89, definitely not company issue.

Can you still get six mail order LP's for just a penny? They used to attach a penny to order form. If you sent them your 2 cents worth you could get alot of LP's.

I never ordered the albums but I remember ripping that penny off the card real fast. Back then that penny was like gold. I had to dry the dishes all week to get a penny in my allowance; it was like a bonus check.

    Look at it this way.....

My comptroller and I were walking across a parking lot after lunch about a dozen years and 3 business's ago.I saw a penny gleaming in the sunlight and bent down to pick it up..(still believing in Luck)"Look Howard, I found a penny" I exclaimed."Thats not a penny" Howard replied,...
..."Thats One Percent! I knew I had made a good choice for comptroller, and it was a lesson I'll never forget.
    I'm going golfing today,
best to you all from harry j

Blake: Hold on, be cool, here it is...

A friend of mine told me last night it was in excess of a million buckaroonies.
    Tell you what . . .
What's your address: I'll sit on the living floor and help you count them for 10%
    OK?

    yep, you are correct.

It's WAY in excess of a million bucks. In fact, the number's really too big to think of anything useful. If you stacked all the pennies one on top of the other (they're about 1mm thick I believe), you'd have a stack that could circle the entire galaxy and still have leftovers!
Is your brain hurting yet? Mine is!

Fortunately, there isn't enough copper to make that many pennies! :p

    Woe

    Holeeee Jibungis (new word)

    OK, I'll settle for 1/2 a stack.
I'll take my 10% from that.
But, who's gonna keep it from falling over?
I mean, like, if I'm going to count all that,
I'm not going to start again just cause it fell over.
So, it's one shot, Pal. That's It!
    OK?
