    Irving Rips

I was informed last night that Irving Rips, founder of Younger Optics passed away on Sunday the 29th. He was 79 years old. Services will be held on Wednesday August 1 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Hollywood Hills.

He was a giant in our industry and will be greatly missed.

How sad. We have lost another Optical Pioneer.

My sympathies go out to David and the entire family.

Much more could be said about the man. The industry just lost one it's true legends. There's not many like him anymore.

    What a great contributor

We are fortunate to have had such a great contributor to ophthalmic optics as Irving Rips. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, especially Mr. David Rips.

A big hug to you over the Internet... ((((( ))))), and you are no doubt, keeping your Dad's dreams alive.

    Respectfully,

    Laurie

Truly a loss to our industry. The loss will be felt by us all. I send my condolences to his family and those who knew him so very personally.

I had the pleasure of knowing Irv over the years. Some of the words, (innovator, pioneer, brilliant) still come short of describing the man. One of the last true gentlemen of the industry will certainly be missed. Fortunately, many of his best characteristics will be carried on by his son, David. His legacy does live on.

My prayers go out to David and his family. I never met his father but I hold David in high regards. Truly must be a chip off the 'ol block. David always talks about his father with both repect and love. Keep the legacy alive!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts regarding the passing of my father. He truly was a "bigger than life" character and many people who met him felt he was the most unique man they had ever met.

Today we had the burial services and I have had heartfelt letters, faxes, e-mails from around the world. People from all areas of the optical business who had been touched by him either directly or indirectly.

Once again your kind thoughts make this time easier, and that is why I love this industry so much.

    All my best,

    Dave

Let me reiterate what others have said here also. It's always tough losing a parent, both mine are gone too.
