I finally decided on a prize for this contest. The winner will receive their very own yourname@optiboard.com email address. In addition, if the winner hasn't already posted enough messages to have a custom Avatar and Title, these will be made available as well.

In addition, I am extending the contest until September 30th, so there's still plenty of time to pull ahead. Let's keep those referrals coming!

Update: Although OptiBoard is averaging about 4 new members per day, the actual referrals are less than 1 in 20 registrations. Remember that in addition to providing a URL with your referrerid, you can also get credit for a referral if they put your OptiBoard Username in the 'referrer' box when registering.

Steve, I refered a Optician by the name of Rodney Colon, however, he told me that he only typed ney and I see on the latest update that I did not receive credit. Does he have to use my last name so I can be credited? Ney

I don't see any users by the name Rodney Colon. What name did he use to register?

In order to get credit, they need to use the URL with your refferid (as described int eh first message in this thread), or enter your complete OptiBoard username. However I can manually add the referral in special circumstances. I need their username and confirmation from them that your referred them

I just noticed something. When you use the 'Email This Page to Someone' option, it automatically adds your referrerid to the link. Pretty cool!

I just found out two things about the Referral IDs that I didn't know before:

1. When someone visits the Board with a link that contains your referral ID, you get credited with the referrer if they register anytime within one year of their first visit.
2. And when you use the 'Email This Page to Somone' feature, your Referrer ID is automatically added to the link!

Seems to me that one way to get more referrals would be by using the 'Email This Page' feature more frequently. ;)

To be honest.........never thought of referring people that i know to these boards as a way of winning a contest.Just thought i would share the great information,wealth of knowledge and friendship's that develop along the way.This is a great place to be for anyone in our profession.All thing's aside ...................anyone who has a referral or signed up to be here has something to be proud of.......i know i'am. BTW .........Jo's right,we opened up a serious can of whoop**s. Here's to Ya! :cheers:

Sean I agree fully this site has helped me get through the state board here in N.C. as well as provided much needed advice on a few special orders we've had to process. We have several apprentice opticians in our organization that I have strongly recommended this site to. Hopefully I have saved enough for the final kick down the homestretch. I have a sneaky suspicion someone is gonna appear out of no where at the last minute to blow us both away. Or maybe Jenny is holding out till the end either way its been fun, good luck to all of you.
