I was dinking around and clicked on the little scales above my posts and it said I have these reputation points. What are they, how did they get there, and how do I get more? I find this to be of much intrigue.

This is what I know about reputation points:
Do you see the "scale" on the upper right hand corner of a post?
If you click on that, you can add to someone's reputation - (good, bad, otherwise). You can simply "add" or "add and leave a comment".
Some people have elected to turn off the reputation points (I think you can do that in your user CP).
If you go into your user CP, you can see when you received the points and to which thread it pertains.

Points can also be taken away, if you disapprove of a post. You can giveth them, and you can taketh away!

As long as we are on the subject which way will the scale be tipped for plus and which way for minus?

Now the next question is, who on the board here actually gives out reputation? I have for the past month or so, and I've received some so I know there are some people out there using it.
I didn't realize we could give others reputation points until now.
I got more!!! Wow this whole reputation thing is making me feel very special. I guess I will start giving out some points of my own. There are a lot of great topics and some wonderful advice in these forums.....what a cool way to show my appreciation!
Thanks for the rep points y'all!:bbg:

Along with the reputation points there are funny little green squares, what are they and how do I get 5 or 6 (or 19) more??
I'm sure Steve would know.
Ask some of these guys who have been around for years. I'm up to 19 points now so I'll let you know if it's every 10 in a little bit! :D
I have found that it won't let you give the same person reputation over and over until you spread some around. Prevents people from patting their buddies on the back or giving too much negative to someone I guess.
It seems to be something not used very often though. To be honest, I make assessments of members based on their posts, not how many little green dots they have.
I've been around for years and I have absolutely no idea how many points it takes to get a green box!
Nettie, in answer to the question on your sig............picture isn't large enough! :):):) We like you just the way you are.

It's one green square for each 100 reputation points.

Republicans get black squares:shiner:
What I love is when a particular thread is for debate. Be it whether consumers should be allowed or the meaning of life and GOD. So you post your opinion, and you get negative rep for stating your opinion.. and opinion on a strictly OPINION BASED TOPIC!!!
Anyway.. I don't care if everyone agrees with me or not. While it would be nice to have 5 green boxes on top, I don't post enough.. and I learn a lot more than I contribute.

Now the next question...If you have 3 or 4 squares and you disable reputation, will you have 3 or 4 black squares?
Or how about the red squares, can you get more than one for being really bad??
Its not necessarily that he's well connected........its just that he has ALL the right tools with which to work! His tool box is really really big!:D :D
