Little Box Beside your Post count

As you read threads place your mouse on the box passed the post count for the member and read what it says. My favorite was Darris'. A little apropos!

    Good thread, Cindy!
Also, you can click on a poster's name and immediately go to their public profile. Or send them a message, etc, pretty quickly. And I learned today that I can have a photo in my public profile without giving up my avatar.
So you people who haven't posted a photo, and wish to do so: go to your USER CP and start playing around! Just remember to select or edit a photo to the right dimensions. (In my case, that means yelling for my husband to come help me edit!)

    Well how 'bout dat...

It says for both Darris and I "has a little shameless behaviour in the past."

Yep, shameless hubbies, that's what we are.

Now, if Steve could enlighten us on what this all means, considering 'behaviour' is spelled the British way. Is this a fortune telling item? Does this distinguish the difference between a conservative and a liberal?

All I know is, I'm DANG PROUD to be shameless and I want to tell the WORLD !!!!!:bbg:

    Now Bob...

It could be just as much a showing of disrespect as commendation. So are we being "dissed" as it were? I wonder. Not that I mind or care but don't read too much positive into it and I won't read too much negative into it. ;)

    Take care,

There was an area under the "edit options" section of the User CP that said that you could have your reputation displayed. I don't see the option there now but I am wondering if that is what it is.

I guess that would mean that Darris & BobV's reps aren't *ahem* 100%....

I for one prefer to be an unknown quantity...

I actually figured that out but what do the different colors mean? I figured out how to view my rep, can I look at everyone else's???

Not sure yet on the complete color scheme yet, but green is good, grey is neutral and red is 'bad'.

What's the deal with reputation? If you click on a post you like does the writer receive rep. points? How does this work exactly? Anyway it's a fun idea and I love the new changes to the boards.

It's kind of complicated but essentially that's it. You click on the reputation scale, approve or disapprove of a post and the person's reputation is altered. The amount it's altered depends on a number of factors. For instance the longer you have been registered on OptiBoard, the more reputation-altering power you have. The same goes for the number of posts you have - the more posts, the higher your altering power. In addition your own reputation is a factor. The higher your reputation, the greater your altering power, and conversely the lower your reputation, the less your power.

    Wow Steve...

That means Darris and I could be clicked into cyberspace with this system. A jury of our peers. Let's see, how many people can I tick off today???:shiner:

That's one of the concerns I had about enabling this system. There are some safeguards though. For instance no one can click on all the posts of any one member and give negative feedback. Otherwise it would be very easy to 'ruin' a reputation. Once you give a reputation feedback to one person, you will not be able to give more feedback on that same person until you have given feedback on a set number of others first. (This number is not public in order to reduce attempts to manipulate the system.)

As far as I'm concerned I'm currently limiting myself to positive feedback only.

    User software change request

How about implementing a user selectable override for the poster reputation display?

    Example:
rinselberg was convicted on six counts of felony thread arson

Not sure what you mean but you can choose the option to not have your reputation displayed. It's in the Edit Options section of the User CP.
