It was posted today on LinkedIn that one our own is retiring! I thought it would be appropriate to recognize this young man who has done a great deal through the years. He served as Chair of the Z80.1 (Spectacle Lens Standards) Z80.3 (Sunglass Standards) and Z87.1 (Safety Eyewear Standards) and was elected to the Vision Council Hall of Fame for Labs in 2016! He is an internationally recognized Ophthalmic Optics Expert, and the list goes on! This man is an optical legend who served at Zeiss for 49 years! While leaving full time at Zeiss, he will continue as a independent consultant! And for those who know him I am pleased to report that he will remain at a special place to all of us who understands the history of Opticians in this country. He will continue his excellent service as Executive Director of the Optical Heritage Museum, located in Southbridge, Mass. Some may wonder why that location. It is the original home of American Optical Company and filled with optical history Mr. Whitney proudly cares for so we can all visit and see our own history!
Dick, congratulations to you for your exemplary work with Zeiss, and for your great service to us all!
Warren
