Slept with contact lens

I forgot to remove my contacts and slept for like 8 hours. When I woke up, I immediately remembered that I was still wearing them. I ran to the mirror and removed right away. I felt something but not painful. My vision were blurred even with my eye glasses. It lasted for about couple of hours I think. Anyway, I'd like to know the immediate remedy in case it will happen again (but hopefully not). Please give some recommendations. Thanks.
