love them Jerry, send me a pair 52/20
Way cool!
I would actually wear a pair of those, to be honest with you.
Thank you all for your compliment.
Harry and Keri,
The backing support sheet to laminate the coke aluminum can is made of "TAC" plastic, the same material that is used to make polarized lenses. I only obtained 2 scrap strips from the manufacturer for the purpose of testing whether the material can be used to make frames. I found the material is be very strong, flexible, and durable. It is strong and flexible enough to hold a 4.5 base curve RX lens (or less base curve lens) in place. Opticans can utilize this scrap material to customize their own frame design. I will make custom frames for you when I receive more material next month.
Keri,
Do you and your lady OD have small faces? I have some coke cans from Japan in 53 mm outside diameter (240 ml) to make smaller size goggles or John Lennon style round eyeshape frames with temples. American size coke cans are much bigger (66 mm outside diameter/ 355 ml) which is good for goggles only! Please see attached photos.
cheers!

My design concept originated to keep our environment green. In factoring to utilize recyclable cans to make cool looking added value products. Nowdays, the fashion statement from high end accessories still emphasis luxury material such as gold, silver, diamond, crystals...etc. Other than formal occassion recycle items are also available for cool looking conversation at causal expense. For example: aluminum cans, worn bicycle tires, textile fabrics, junk cars and more can be converted/recycle to high value commercial items as we observed closely in our livehood!
What are we capable to convert these materials to commercial products you see on retail shelves?? Moreover, recycle product can be enhance uniqueness of our personal belongings. For example, add flare to your handbags, good looking safe keeping watch cases, a joyful watch band, characterized eyewears indestructible racks, heartwarming furniture....
The down side of recycle goods can be time consuming to design or fabricate and/or pricier to convert. However, once basic set up is established, the service and value still can be appreciated by knowledgeable consumers. In addition and the most important--recycle good industry definitely help our earth to relive burden and reduce more toxicated material being created day by day.
Best of all, I want to tell my Chinese brothers in eyewear manufacturing biz---whatever we make in USA holds better value than theirs FOREVER!:D:D:D
Love them! Will do a post on them! Will also do on my green site as well.
Can I just buy some Coke cans from Japan? :bbg: I generally wear anywhere from 48-50 and I do have a size 51 (because I thought I'd be cool and get a big girl pair). And she generally wears the same size. That would be awesome if you could make a cat eyed shape :bbg:
Fine work, sir! :D
Way to go, they are awesome!!
I came, I saw, I left
Hi Keri,
The polarized film manufacturer is sending me the TAC film from Japan. What is your bridge size and what particular cat eye frame shape are you looking for? Please note Cat eyes usually have very small bridge size (smaller than usual), I suggest you to find a cat eye plastic frame and take a photo of it.
Thanks, Jerry! I have a very narrow bridge, zyl frames are hard for me to find. I have gone as small as a 14 bridge in a zyl but I can also go up to a 17-18 in a metal. Here is the cat eye shape that I like. It's a Via Spiga Gabetti and the VERY 1st frame I bought for myself when I started in optical, 8 years ago. I'm putting my first progressive pair in them (I'm only 27..bleh) so I'm excited to get them back and experience it all. So, wish me luck!
Here is a picture.
Hi Jerry, we have now had 2 consumers looking to buy these coke glasses. Are you willing to make them? How much? If not, please let me know
Amazing!!!
I'm Andrew Hamm and I approve this message.
Made in USA #3!
Hi OpticalCathy, Thanks for your inquiry about my AmeriCAN eyewears. I am currently engaged in the product development of an economical and feather weight clip-on for several popular frames. THis ready-made 3-D fitted clip-on delivers the custom look & feel a brand-name frame buyer would desire. On top, it is so light (about 0.1 oz) that a nose would thank for it! Please see attched photos below!
Let me get back to you soon on the project of "Made in USA #4", until then, stay in touch and happy blogging.
