Frank, you should know that better, or at least as well as, any participant in this thread. Stop tossing bait upon the water and let the sleeping dog lie in this thread. Some of us are not as happy with Chip's trouble as you seem to be. I rarely saw eye to eye on many matters, but I loved his honesty, his humor, and you can believe it or not, his sensitivity. He rarely showed us that but he had it......but of course you had to take the effort to read between the lines. Too bad you didn't, you might have wound up focusing on the diversity rather than the divisiveness which you deride, but seem to generate.

I can attest to Chip's kindness and knowledge. He helped me many times while I was studying for my test.

I miss seeing his posts, I recieved a few emials from him behind the scenes and he was very insightful and provided a wealth of information. I liked the way he stirred the pot as well kept things interesting, lately this place has a bland feeling to it.
Same can be said about you regarding throwing bait.
Without mentioning his name in particular, there is no room for certain comments in forums like this...by anyone. Being a good optician is not an excuse.
Really, guys and gals, I am over it. Like many others here, I make one post and six people have to chide me. What is it?
Words dont have hands and feet. Still, Some times those creat wounds. Some times those work like Medicines. Let the words of Medicines take charge, heal the wound fast, and every one care for every one. Let OB get filled with Love, trust, understanding, affection and Harmony.. Want to see Chip and Steve be friends for ever. God, pl. Do it .
i,m just curious now as to how many of you would like to se chip come back, maybe someone can set up one of those polls
I will say this, in all honesty, I think the general attitude on this board has improved. Maybe it's related to Chip, maybe not.
I think the avenues to communication have opened up a little more. There is no OD bashing, and the board is moving in a better direction.
What I mean by that is that it seems like since Chip is gone there are fewer OD responses to posts.
Case in point: I'm not sure when Chip left, but in August alone, OHPNTZ posted 27 times. In Sept, Oct, & November, OHPNTZ only posted a total of 17 times. So the post rate went from 27 per month down to an average of 9 per month. Quite a difference.
Maybe we miss a few of the more thought provoking (or maybe "provoking could stand on it's own) responses with Chip gone?

Ever hear of football season? It starts about the same time...
To increase my post number, I will respond "That's AFTER Sonday or Monday night Football".
I meant "Sunday"...that's an increase in 2 posts...
With Chip sometimes, you had to read BETWEEN the lines....if you get my point!

Wow, this has made me realize, Optiboard isn't like other forums, and I don't say that in a bad way. It actually makes me feel really grateful for not being banned because I've certainly posted without thinking, and I've certainly offended some people.
If Chip was advocating genocide or whatever, well, certainly that shouldn't be tolerated, but I think there's a bit of confusion about this board in that we all work in the same field, we share the same trials, and we feel like we're friends at least in the sense of sharing common goals and challenges. So we talk to each other like we would with friends--we try to be funny, or we try to make someone look a fool, just as we would at the water cooler.
I don't think my "Borysko-as-Ukrainian-optician" posts really contribute anything, but I do hope they brighten someone's day with a laugh. My other post, though, are sometimes sarcastic and even cruel, and while what I say would be perfectly okay with friends where you could see I'm half-joking, I can see how when you type something it's difficult to show the smile on your face.
I guess I'm saying...I'm glad to be here, I'm sorry to see Chip go, and I will try to consider how what I'm saying might come across because it does indeed reflect on all of us opticians and alll of us in the industry.
Bashing is a periodic thing and will happen again with somebody making a comment that many support or the opposite and you get a small war going tha very often is interesting but will dye off like any other thread.
The board is not moving in a better direction it is just waiting for the next battle. I have a habit not to look at threads I don't like or have nothing to contribute and if I get offended I can deal with it directly and in public.
For me, Chip's valuable contributions declined and I got tired of some of his....well, crap. But I still wouldn't report him. I put him on my Ignore list. That's what it's there for. I've reported a few spammers, just because I saw them first, but I would never report someone just because I didn't like what they said. After all, it's just an online forum.
If anyone thinks that everything I've posted is 100% serious, then they've not met me.:D

Chip is not going to be reinstated for reason I won't discuss. End of story.
