Vote for "Stan"

I recently heard someone say that, if nothing else, this war has turned into a great geography lesson. I thought we could vote on the best country name that ends with "stan". (and no clever answers like "I voted for Unitedwe Stan") I cast the first vote with Uzbekistan. Wouldnt it be cool to be called an "uzbek"?

Does anyone know what these names mean? Does "stan" stand for "Land of" or something like that?

This is Borat. He's supposed o be some sort of diplomat, but he always says really inapproriate things. They film it with real people, who have no idea he's a Brit.
