i, trying to , but the hotel prices are killing me, they seem to be much higher then last year
Where is the meeting?
I just don't know if I should wear my Red Sox hat or Pats hat.
I am there. Harry, try hotels.com. Mine is across from the Mariott Marquis and alot less. Last year I got bumped from the Marriott and ended up at the LaGuardia Marriott because they overbooked. What a PIA it was.
I'm staying at the Herald Square Hotel on 32nd st. $89 per night, small single, private bath.
Harry
I'll be there Sat. & Sun.
I'll be the one wearing rimless glasses with clear polarized lenses.:drop:
BTW....
Check with some of your vendors to see if they recognize accrued co-op to be used for attending expo and therefore help with your hotel expense.
We decided not to go. Called in all our lab sales rep, had niceoneonone chats, spent a few weeks going over their numbers, boughtwhatwe needed (could afford).
Does anyone know why my words are running together? I occasionally have to use double spaces to separate words.

I do the "show floor" only, on Sunday. I admit it's kind of a whirlwind tour, but I don't spend time with my usual reps - I want to see what's new and different. Do you spend 3 days there. If so, what do you do?

Friday and Sat floor time Sundays the past few years have been spent manning the Children's Vision Coalition booth from opening till about 11 when I catch the Acela back to Providence. Home in time for dinner! :) I ususally have a meeting or 2 to attend during "floor time".
I'm thinking we should have a place to meet each day.Last year we met in the Cafeteria at 1 on Saturday but that wasn't too convenient for some, so my thought would be 9 Am in the Caf for coffee and conversation. That way we'd have a half hour or so before anything opens (9:30) and it would be more convenient. What does anyone think?

Why don't we try to meet on Saturday AM prior to the show downstairs to the right of the escalators at 8:30 AM?
See all of you who are going in NYC. I'll be heading in Wed. and leaving late Sunday. I have two seminars, plus editorial work. Ah, the reporters life! Check with the Holiday Inn Downtown, which is literally on the corner of Little Italy and Chinatown: 212-966-8898. Last I knew, their rates were under $200, it's a really nice hotel - clean, good service, nice rooms (especially for NYC) - and it's easy to get a cab to the convention center from there. Plus great step outside the hotel atmosphere no matter which direction you walk.
Essilor will have a brand new booth (plasma screens and all that), and I'm sure I'll be there from time to time if anyone wants to drop in and say "hey." (Bring your blasted Pats caps if you must...)
I'm going to try to limit my attendance to Thursday - Friday, but one never knows. NYC is one of those places I like- but only in small doses!

i see flights to NY were cancelled today, anyone up there have a feel for what the weather is going to be like that weekend
I'll be there. Look for the short Amish guy with chewing tobacco in his beard. (That's not me, but he'll be with me).

At 7PM the temp had dropped to 27 degrees. Its a little after 8:30 and the temp is 21. If I were coming from NC I would dress very warmly if you plan to be out and about. Busses, cabs, and Javits are heated so no sweat there.
