Ok Folks here's a oldie but a goodie! I have a patient that has fallen in love with the Numont Full-vue, Oddly I can't find one in my collection although I was sure I had one hanging around. Anyone have a a frame? better yet, anyone have any new old stock?

Which company made that? I see an AO Crosley Numont an an Art Craft Fulvue No. 100AB in the number 3 FRAMES book. Was that a full metal or semi-rimless with drilled holes or a 3 peice mounting?

In a historical context, as it relates to frames, Fulvue is a reference to the frame having the temple at approximately 15 to 30 degrees above datum, horizontal.

The product is either nasal hole drilled (Numont)only, or nasal and temporal drilled(Rimway).

Numont is the mounting method whereby a top bar follows the shape of the top of the lens from the nasal to the temporal hinge.

Great description, although I believe that "Numont" only applied to frames with a nasal drill mounting. If both sides were drilled, it was a "Rimway." Both were manufactured by AO.

Yes, thank you for catching that error, I stand corrected, Darryl.

...Numont is 2 point mount nasally, and Rimway is 4 point mount, nasal and temporal.

I also need to correct the degrees to be anywhere from 15 to 30 degrees!

My numont pliers have been one of my favorite hand tools for many, many years.

Numont and Rimway were both made by AO, but others had very similar models. You may want to check the Artcraft and Shuron websites, I seem to remember something similar on one of them.

I do believe, if memory serves me, that AO held patents on these designs and Artcraft, Shuron and others were licensed to manufacture their versions. Similarly, with the exception of the BalGrip mounting AO held patents on most of the screw/spring/strap mounting methods.

There was also the "Wilsedge" frames where the lens top was glued into a profile bar on top.

Is it imperative that it be a Numont setting? Shuron has a very nice Rimway (the Ronwinne) for a reasonable price that has cable or skull temples with spring hinges, to boot. I've sold a few pairs to a couple of older gentlemen and they've all been very pleased.

You can find a bunch of the old rimless frames - including Numonts, on e-bay. Price runs from $12 to $50 depending on seller

Your right Jacqui. I had never been to that site. Saw a bunch of L-200's (L-205's actually with the trim on), some Sirmonts, a Ronsir, Ladybrow, and Leading Lady in just a few pages.

I have a WilsEdge. The top of the lens had sort of a shelf that slid into the top bar that was cemented with Canada balsam. And it was all glass. No screws ! I could imagine there were a whole lot of cracked lenses.
