Any Real Opticians In Santa Fe / Albuquerque NM Area

I have a gal who contacted me because she can't find anyone willing to help her - even being told that they "can't do it" or "won't do it."
    OD -18.50 OS - 17.50
Email me through the OpticianWorks website and I'll send her your contact information.
    Thanks
    John

It's not a matter of real Opticians (capital O) not willing (and able) to do this but limitations in range and designs those Opticians now face from The Great and Powerful OZ!!!

(Gotta run...time for another training zoom.)

I see one active ABO-AC in Albuquerque, and an ABOM quite a bit further south in Ruidoso.

This Rx is doable and real-world functional even in a free-form PAL, and is best utilized as a backup to CL wear, although I remember a recent absolute presbyopic client who wore this power in a PAL full time.

    Hope this helps,

Right, there is no such thing as a capital N nurse, capital P policeman, capital P plumber but there is a capital O optician because you believe it.
My friend works at the VA as an Optician.
Yeah that helps us elevate the profession how?
By not following the rules of English grammar?
By arbitrarily capitalizing letters in a sentence?
Yeah that helps get the newbie hired on at that new job!
"Hey, Dave look at this resume not bad except they can't spell for ****."

I don't care who you work for. If your name badge says optician on it somewhere then you should either be able to fill that lens order or know someone in the area around where you work who can.

Proud to say as a real optician of over 40 years and former independent lab owner, I would service local ECP's high Rx orders (see pics). I was purchased in 2015 and merged with a national. It eventually closed a few years later after my departure.

This might be a situation in which the servicing labs are saying no.

    That's a great clarification. Thanks.

My situation is our office in a transition to a group who has told us we cannot do jobs over a +10.00(?) -12.00 or any glass.

If some of you haven't noticed I'm a bit more than usual curmudgeonly lately.

    I need a cyber hug:(

An ugly myodisc lens is always an option but the patient will probably need to go to an establishment that uses an independent lab. Most <insert corporate insurance lab here> aren't going to touch a job like that. Of course as we all know, if there is any shot for a standard lens blank to be thick enough, pt will need a very small eyesize in a preferred round shape. High index material obviously.

Optician isn't the limiting factor IMO. Lab in this case is crucial as is pt expectations.
