    One big happy Ohio family!

Well, brothers and sisters, we are now "vision professionals" in Ohio. We will be regulated by the people of Ohio via their government's "Vision Professionals Board" as of Jan 21.

There will be no Optical Dispenser's Board, nor a State Board of Optometry.

Think of the savings to the people of Ohio! Instead of four employees, now there will be three!

The new board that will regulate me consists of two opticians and a layperson. I hope those three will understand medical optometry.

Oh, and by the way, now Ohio opticians will be answering to four optometrists, not just one or two.

    "Vision Professionals" Rule!

    Can you feel the love?

    Reducing the size of government.

    I guess it's a good enough idea.

On a positive note they've repealed the sales tax on ophthalmic products!

That is the new tendency, also being changed in other regulated states of the Union.

..............this is to easier adapt to the coming big changes in the optical retail field, and North America is only an important part in the world wide game plan, no love involved drk.

There is no savings in elimination of a board that was totally supported by fees paid by licensed opticians . When I pointed this out to my State Senator Randy, he initially agreed with all of Dr K's arguments before he voted against them ! What gives Senator Randy ? Someone might suspect money is involved.

........................if not money, there can be some other favours to grease the joints.

So now you have one more state on the way to de-regulation and a free for all optical retail.

In the Province of Ontario the opticians just won the battle, ...................but how do you regulated illegal deliveries by mail.......................
Produced in a non regulated area and sold into a regulated one.

    Legislation is meaningless without enforcement.

Would they start a customs clearing for internal country mail, targeting certain companies ?

They could not afford it and it would not be profitable, neither in Canada nor the USA.
