    Sunglasses after a LASIK/Cataract

Hello everyone, It would be great if someone can help me. I am working in the sales section and I don't know more regarding the eye care. I have been in this industry just for the past 2 months. Which type of sunglasses would be the best for people who had done their LASIK or cataract surgeries? Yesterday, one of my customers asked me sunglasses option for him ( he had done a LASIK surgery for myopia in the last month ) and I was not sure about that. Are polarized dark lenses a good option? Can you please share your thoughts?

I would do polarized lenses for sunglasses of any nearly any application. The glare-blocking properties far exceede simple tinted lenses. Just make sure your patient knows that some simple digital displays such as gas pumps may be difficult to read with polarized lenses.

I agree with this, however most all new displays don't have this effect. Try looking at pretty much any apple device and you wont notice much at all, and most all other devices that are less than a few years old wont either. Heads-up-displays on cars will typically be blocked out though.

The main thing those patients need is UV protection. The bonus with most polar is they have the UV protection in the lens as opposed to applied to the lens. Lower quality glasses will have a UV coating that can wear off as they are cleaned. Any lens thats Poly or trivex will protect against UV in the lens itself.

Fun Fact: VSP Signature plans gives the patient the frame allowance to be used for non-RX sun after LASIK surgery also! You just have to be able to provide proof to VSP that they have had the surgery at any time in their life.

Suggesting someone who have just gone through lasik surgery needs more than just to be a salesperson. Firstly, it is important to understand the requirements of a customer to recover after lasik surgery.

Lasik specialists provides a pair of special sunglasses which are more often full coverage glasses. Customers choose to go for other options as they want to find more good looking sun glasses.

Lasik surgery patients are required to keep their eyes safe from direct sunlight or protect unless eyes get completely healed.

Polarized sunglasses are most prefered choice among lasik pateints. However, basically they need dark lenses.

I think polarized sunglasses would be the best option after Lasik surgery. They can reduce eye strain, protect your eyes from UV rays and keep you safe in hazardous conditions.

Regardless, the only correct answer, if this was a legitimate scenario, would be to hand this over to the "ophthalmic optician" section of the practice, instead of your "sales section".

Second? Try third or fourth... Guy posted once honestly as a consumer, then again as a marketing guy, and, IIRC, yet another time as yet another fake position... It's starting to get annoying and quite frankly disrespectful.
