Kinks - You Really Got Me 1964

When kids in the US/UK heard this song they played it if they had a guitar, or bought a guitar so they could play it.

This version has an over saturated bass from the amp and/or recording and is very hard driving, played live, while others (DC5 etc.) wouldn't dare play their music live on video.

    Freddie King, “Hide Away”

If we haven’t posted this here I’ll be surprised. “Hide Away”. Is a classic (now a days) instrumental by Freddie. I think most every blues based rock guitarist, amateur and pro know and can play (or butcher) it.

Yes, this song proved you don’t need to be a virtuoso to rock! And this recording does have the guitars buried. Ray thought so too the 1st time they recorded it in the studio. He ended up slashing the speaker cone of a green Elpico amp and ran it through a Vox ac30 to get the classic guitar distortion on the final release.

Trying not to show too much favoritism towards any one artist.

This is the one that I posted, with the correct title and cool outro from Hoss Allen.

Billy Peek/Chuck Berry - It Came Out Of The Sky 1975

"This the future government of the United States out there" says Berry, pointing to the audience.

In 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival mentioned Reagan in their science fiction-inspired song "It Came Out of the Sky" in which a flying saucer landing in the US Midwest spirals into a commercial and political fiasco.[14] In his lyrics CCR frontman John Fogerty imagines how different sectors of the establishment would respond, with Hollywood turning the event into an epic film, The Vatican declaring it as Christ's return, then-vice president Spiro Agnew proposing a tariff on all things Martian, and Governor Reagan suspecting a communist conspiracy.[15] Fogerty wrote about his inspiration for the song's spectacle and its Reagan reference in his 2015 memoir, saying, "Walter Cronkite and Eric Sevareid are in there, big newscasters at the time. And Ronald Reagan—I call him Ronnie the Popular."[14]

Incredible Casuals - Leave Me Alone 2010

I heard a few bars of "Uncontrollable Urge" in a Scorsese movie I watched the other day, and I say to my wife "I know that song, it's the Incredible Casuals". It turns out to be Devo, and I had only heard the Casuals cover. Nevertheless, we sure do seem to have the same taste in music.

    Eyes without a Face

I’ve always like songs that went from mellow to rocking, then back again (ala Led Zeppelin). Steve Stevens is underrated as a guitarist/writer. And Billy ages well…
