I know Essilor has been buying up labs for a long time. They own online now too. But do they own retail stores?
I've heard they are about to buy a 75 store chain in Quebec......I wonder if this is a new track for them.

I do not know but logically it is the next step. They will close the circle. Is the last piece on the puzzle.
Yes. Yes they do.
Interesting!!
Which store chain they own?
Are you kidding. Whan does it end.
when the bread lines are too clogged with former retail and optical people and no one can afford even their cheap ****e......
Vertical integration in the USA is done a little differently.
Not any more,
......................................so now you can see how it is done from now on on a world wide basis on top of it.
..........................and it is not done by a USA industrialist any more, but by a group of 5 small French frame manufacturers, that got together some 55 years ago hoping to get a bigger share of customers that way.
The French will be the rulers of the Optical World .
Looks like Greiche and Scaff has a lot of Luxottica product. Any relationship there, or is it the same as the eyemed/essilor lab relationship?
Soon Essilor and Ikea will team up to have one company that will control all you see and how you see it....... And it will come in a small box...
Essilor has already a loose coalition in Australia with Luxottica in Australia and I could see another one in N America. There is a loose thread:
Dallas - (March 17, 2010) – Today, Essilor, Luxottica Group, and VSP GlobalSM announced the creation of the Think About Your EyesCoalition. The new coalition will develop a public awareness initiative, launching in the second quarter of 2010, designed to remind Americans about the importance of eye exams, as well as the benefits they can provide to overall health and wellness.
“The Think About Your Eyes Coalition will strive to educate the public about the importance of eye health, which is often overlooked or misunderstood” said Kerry Bradley, President, Luxottica Retail North America. “As vision industry leaders, Essilor, Luxottica and VSP Global decided to join together to embrace this exciting opportunity to combine our efforts to help Americans keep healthy vision top of mind.”

Would it not be a natural that Lens Crafters might get joined into the
Essilor ManuToRetail circle ?
Would that not be a optoatomic bombshell if those two
would find each other. ?
ESSILUX..............or................... LUXESSI
The "Think About Your Eyes" program has expanded beyond Essilor and VSP to include several other sponsors and is open to independent ECPs to join and be listed on their website. It is not a "loose thread". The organization publicizes vision related health issues and encourages the public to get eye exams. My company is considering supporting this organization as it aligns with our products.
So far no one can name a chain or any retail stores owned by Essilor, perhaps there are none. Yet.
The Greiche and Scaff rumor I heard is just that - until it isn't.
...and in other old optical related articles Chris found that he's now replying to:
"It is impossible to get a bifocal without a lined demarcation."
"Lenses can only exist in a constant clear state or a constant tinted state."
"Glass lenses are the only way to produce the light bending properties needed to correct vision disorders."
Thanks for keeping us up to date!
