I heard there would be a shortage or wouldn't be able to get FT 28 polarized lenses. Is that true? Any comments ?

Jerry,
Are you sure that wasn't POLY you heard about? I have had no problems with Grey or brown FT 28 KBCO stock.
Jerry, no problem with polarized. It's Vision-Ease poly that there is about a 3 month shutdown. I think I read in VM that they are shutting down their CA plant and moving it to Jakarta.

I heard the rumor from a Visionease Rep. If you hear anything let me know.
Thanks again

That's a big 10-4 on Vision Ease!
Jerry,
I have not heard anything about cr39 polarized lenses being in short supply. But as for poly.......???
The flyer I recieved from Vision Ease stated that the Poly FT would also be suspended.
There has been no trouble receiving FT CR-39 from either KBCO or Younger.
KBCO has just released Poly FT Polaroid in an Aspheric lens.

Another manufacture goes east then...BobV said:

I had no luck today trying to order a FT28 poly polarized. There seems to be enough CR39 to go around though...............But that will not do in this customers case. His Rx
OD -4.50 -3.50 x 176 2d BO & 3/4 BU
OS -4.25 -4.00 x 037 2d BO & 1/2 BD
And to top it all off he has worn poly and only poly........and he insist's on poly(naturally,i can't blame him).He has also ordered two other pairs in clear. I did not have a problem getting those though(thank god!)Anyone have any suggestions?:(
Do you think they are trying to push FT bifocals off the market? I know plastic is still available but as you said with the high astigmatic myope you dealt with who has worn the lens, this is going to be a traumatic change.
What is the story? Do we only have one or two poly manufactures and are they holding us hostage? Someone wasn't doing their job on inventory management in those manufacturing facilities.
Interesting how these guys are going to control the market for the country and world.

Sean,
Poly FT-28 Polaroid lenses are available from KBCO. They are available in both Brown and Gray. The lenses are aspheric.

I myself don't think that this problem was created to oust FT's.Nor do i think it was done on purpose.I believe it is because of a business decision to try and better a companies manufacturing and distribution of product. But as the old saying goes..........."S*** floats down stream":D And from the looks of it their is alot of ripples in the water at this point.:shiner:I just wish we all had an earlier "heads up" so to speak. My guess is that it will get worse before it get's better(i hope im really wrong on this). At this point the only one i can blame is myself(for being so narrow minded)for relying on just 1 or 2 sources of poly, when there are other lens materials out there that are as good ....if not better........ such as trivex.Don't take me the wrong way about this though.........i really like using poly and will continue to do so.But this whole thing has taught me a lesson and there's nothing wrong with that.Who ever said you can't teach an old dog new trick's any way.
I think we all fell into the trap. Problem is the warning was short. Sure glad I don't own stock in VisionEase.

Jerry,
I guess it really could not even been considered a warning.
