Gerber Coburn Adds Esprit 3D Finishing System to
Product Line And Expands International Distribution

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. – Gerber Coburn has added Esprit 3D, an integrated tracer/blocker and automatic patternless edger, to its broad line of finishing products. Designed to address the needs of customers in international markets, Esprit 3D will be marketed and distributed worldwide, excluding the United States and Australia.

Esprit 3D is an integrated edging solution that is accurate, easy to operate, and an outstanding value, indicated Todd Rhodes, director of product management, Gerber Coburn.

Noting Gerber Coburn’s latest offering is ideal for both wholesale and retail environments, he said, “Esprit 3D’s complete feature set including several bevel, groove, and chamfering options, three-dimensional processing technology, and communication protocol adaptability make it suitable for most production laboratories. It provides the consistency and flexibility that’s typical of other Gerber Coburn workhorses, such as the Kappa SP and the highly popular Titan Edger, and like all of our lens processing systems, is exceptionally user friendly.”

Specific features of Esprit 3D cited by Rhodes include:

o Multiple bevel and groove options – Automatic bevel selection allows Esprit 3D to quickly edge most lenses by calculating optimal bevel placement from the furnished 3-D trace data. More difficult or specialty lenses can be controlled using the customized option. Three groove widths are offered for improved fit. Esprit 3D uses an advanced grooving design and computer control to precisely locate grooves on very thin lenses.

o Patented chamfering feature – Accommodates all lens sizes including small diameter lenses down to 24 millimeters. Chamfering eliminates the need for any manual pin beveling, reducing lens handling and decreasing the potential for spoilage or breakage.

o Multiple machine setup configurations – Esprit 3D can be tailored to each lab’s material and functional needs. Operators select the machine setup configurations, user interface, language, and default toolbar, thereby minimizing errors and maximizing efficiency.

“These capabilities, together with Esprit 3D’s unique combination of performance and price, make it the system of choice for every day use,” he stated. “We are pleased to offer busy labs everywhere such an ideal solution to their lens processing needs.”
