Does anyone know where I can get a copy of a B&L Job Coach?

Are you wanting one for historical/sentimental reasons or because you want a good manual on lens surfacing? If you're just wanting a good surfacing manual, Brooks's Understanding Lens Surfacing covers the vast majority of the optics from the Job Coach, in addition to several that aren't covered. Also, much of the content in the Job Coach is extremely outdated.

    Best regards,
    Darryl

I've decided that I need to train my people aggressively in order to be the best we can be. So I am taking a little from here or there to train them. Right now we are looking more at finishing, and I remeber there are some tid bits in the job coach that are relavent, yet often forgotten... And the difference is in the details.

I would like even a photo copy of one for review.

I have an old brown loose leaf style edition, it has to be more than 50 years old....... the only problem is that I haven't seen it for ...... errhhh 50 years ..... It's the sort of thing you find when looking for something else.......

It's an amazing book with all the real basics of optics within.

I'll start searching and will be in touch

Two Grollman devices and one B & L Job Coach...Guess that makes me old and a collector or just don't throw things out.

I'm pretty sure they were all loose-leaf editions. B&L sent updates and technical supplements along that you could just insert in the back of the book.

    Best regards,
    Darryl

I agree with Darryl, in addition I would also recommend Essentials for Ophthalmic Lens Work and Optical Formulas Tutorial.

    Judy,
Would the first book you mentioned be easy to read? And also i want pure bench work... No dispensing stuff.

A few years ago there was some good videos available. They showed how to use a lensometer, how to use tools, and basic repairs. I believe it was Hilco, I do not see them in the latest catalogue. Maybe give them a call.

Yup, all finish and bench work. Easy to read and has tests at the end of each chapter to test comprehension and skill.

    I'll order it...

    Delighted to have found

my old Job Coach. reprint 1970. The old bible. Hadn't pulled it out in ??
A little water damage, but I remember staring at that 'loose-leaf' jewel for many an hour(back when I had hair). Never part with that archive. B&L wasn't all that bad, I guess.

Yeah B&L rocks... If anyone wants to start producing the model 70 lensometer again they would make a million dollars!
