    Go On.... Guess the Rx

These specs were recently made for one of our patients.

Do you want to try and guess the rx?

    A couple of clues only!

    1) Our receptionist is holding the glasses at 20 cms from her face

    2) the frame measures 38-22

    3) PD that the lenses were made is 63

Good luck....... and lets see who comes closest to being a

Well it looks like there is not a lot of thickness at the nasel and lots at the edges. With a pretty centered PD I bet there is a good portion of cyl. So here is my guess.

Can we assume base up and down prism or is it just a camera angle thing?

I'll take a stab at it.

    OD -14.00 1.5^BU 3.5^BI
    OS -12.50 1.5^BD 3.5^BI

    Well that's my guess.

    Take care,

May I give you a few more clues?

The image of Gabriella's face is up in the Right eye and Down in the Left

The frame measures 60mm yet the PD of the Pt is 63mm and the lenses are MUCH thicker at the temporal edge.

And the final giveaway clue..... Darris, you're right, there's 4 elements of prism, but all the opposite direction.

Let me ask a few of questions, based on glasses being held 20 cms from Gabriella’s face

Glasses aren’t held completely straight, but let me give it a shot… 3 mm difference from bottom of screen, which can affect next questions and resultant answers?

If vertical prism could be effected by centration, would the difference in the vertical placement be about 7 mm?

If horizontal prism could be effected by centration, would the resultant PD be about 40 making the total PD about a total of 23mm in and/or perhaps 11.5mm in each eye?

Is the B measurement about 32?

Prism in OD should be BO and BD/ Prism in OS should be BO and BU?

Image size is a bit smaller in OD than in OS, indicating higher power in OD than in OS?

Image seems a little rotated in OD which could indicate mild cylinder?

High index would indicate a higher Rx than may it may appear.

    HMMM

Keith!!! How did you do it??????

Amazing, but you aren't 100% correct. The right axis is 82, but because the glasses are crooked in the picture, that must account for the discrepancy.

Harry, now for the serious stuff. you know a good one when you see one ehh?.... a man after my own heart!

Everyone should have the pleasure of a Gabriella working for them. From her smile to her coffee... she is loved by everyone.

Thank you everyone for sharing this thread.... it's been fun.

    Clive

One final p.s. There are many people to thank for these glasses.
Firstly the Pt who has not had the luxury of binocular vision for 12 years, many opticians around the world have attempted to make her specs without success. She has been driving with a patch over one eye (horrific ehh?) but now with the Rx from my partner Jonathan, and the manufacturing of the lenses from "You Know Who" together with the expertise in edging and fitting by a guy called Charlie (who I must meet one day) we have one very happy lady.

Well, I couldn't be 100% accurate! That might look suspicious.
