this stuff does not even RATE a product rev.

So everyone seen the stuff on TV about someone taking steel wool and everything else under the sun a scratching the lens all up and than a "magic" application of goop with a Q-tip and a few blasts with a hair dryer and it is good as new? ..I am not going to post the name but most of you will have seen something like this product advertised (you are not going to sue me ya bean bag heads!!) :) .. this stuff STINKS out loud even using a double coat.. I figured what the heck, it might be nice for that hair line scratch you got on a semi-finished poly and could save me time and money.. but this stuff is a waste of money.. it did NOTHING like the demo.. oh it made the white scratches appear more blended but you still see all of the scratches.. oh well just wanted to save everyone else who was curious and might waste money the time..
It would be worth the price I guess if you owned a retail location and people asked about your opinion.. just show them how this "wonder" chemical works and they will be happy to buy the replaced pair of lens you was going to sell them..

Anyone else addicted to infomercials ever get suckered into this stuff? Oh eat what ya want but use the double bubble back flip sit squat easy glide push up bar and lose 500 lbs a week!! we back this up.. :hammer: Oh and I did get one thing I found out that worked great and that was the George Forman grill before it was in stores and only on the tube.. that thing I have worn out over the years..

Thats one of the reasons it should be reviewed.....

    Jeff,
The idea behind Product Reviews was to alert our membership of BAD products as well as GOOD.

Of course it deserves to have a review- why not do one. The advantage of a review is that it will be there for all to see for a long time. The disadvantage of a thread like this is that it will soon sink to the bottom when the posts fall off.

Give it a shot, it won't take over 10 minutes- its easy !

    Harry,

It is sort of a catch 22, I post a review now unless other people go and gets this product it would not be fair to have any type of rev. conversation.. I would hate to think any thing I said would help sell one more bottle of this snake oil.. even if it is people getting it to see it does not work.. :)

Thumbs up Regarding the infomercial goo

I like your feed back. I saw that junk on TV and my wife asked me what I thought. Since I've been in the business for 30 years nothing replaces those unwanted lines on lenses. As some one said just be carefull, don't be an animal to those expensive eyewear

No way, you should try it! The microwave works for pretty significant scratches and has no effect on the Rx.

We actually stumbled across it a few years back and told Optima about it. They didn't believe us at first, but after conducting their own testing, they published it in some of their literature and now recommend it for removing scratches.

With tinted lenses, the process may reduce the tint and you may have to retint. AR? No. Sorry, you can't put AR in the microwave. The heat is likely to result in crazing.

    Jeff !

Do you use Forman grill to heat treat the glass or poly lenses?
Because if you use it for glass thats how it will wear off!!!:bbg:

    Lenny,

I actually wore out my original GF grill we used it so often, and now you can find those and or versions of it in about every store so it is not as much fun buying :) .. but I do love it.. I also bought a beer making kit from one of the sales channels that worked great.. also before "home brewing" took off again.. this was a good investment, even though I don't partake any longer.. I still love a good dark ale once in a while.
Now I guess no one else is a junky for online stuff like myself since we steered off into the lets nuke our lens thread.. but if anyone tinkers in computers Tiger Direct is a great place to get stuff to tinker with.. found out about them one night at 4 in the morning on one of those info-comerical ... gee being an insomniac has it's plus side I guess..

When I first started in the business a 137 years ago. I worked for a wonderful man that was a true pioneer in optical retailing. He had opened a new store and to drive customers into this new establisment, he had a sign on the window saying

    Sratches removed.......$5.00

This was when glass lenses were 25 cents each. He would just duplicate the Rx with a new lens (of course if he did not have the lens, then the scratch was too deep and it would be impossible to remove)

    Hey !

how about resurfacing the lenses and than adding washers to hold the lenses in the frame That eliminates scratches and adds a 0.25 or more.

That is what I figured. I didn't know how hot it got. Unfortunately I hardly sell a high index lens without AR.

Like I said before...Glaswick, Baby, Glaswick!

I did have a customer ask me about that stuff. I reminded him that this product is brought to you by the same people that gave you the Chia Pet!
