I left the office at 4:40 and got home at 8:00; the highway was moving about 5 MPH. I'm not ready for this again.
Pretty though, when you don't have to be out in it. I'm thinking tomorrow is going to end up being a day off.

Like I said last year, you're just whistlin' Dixie.

spent at least 20 minutes shoveling sunshine off my driveway this morning:D

Jo,
So sorry that it's bad weather up there, but think of the holiday spirit you get with it!:bbg:
I would love to just drive up somewhere that has enough snow to build a snowman, and then turn around and come home....;)
We have had rain and fairly cold, but can certainly handle it. Supposed to be about 50 and really sunny today...
Gotta go find some gray hair spray to get really old with...got dress rehearsal for a play. Ya'll don't get aches and pains from too much shoveling.:finger:

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Mikol, it took me longer than that to shovel my wifes car out! Then I began on the driveway.

Perfect snow for snowmen/snowladies.Wet snow is heavy and we don't much like it around here! I'm charging my camera battery and if I get a chance I'll post some pictures.

I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Yep, got the day off today. The snow isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow. We've gone from a winter storm watch to a blizzard warning this morning.
Diane, if I'm not too beat from diggin' out, maybe a build a snowman and take a picture for you folks in all of our southerly and sunshine states. Haven't done that in a decade or so; it should be rather comical.
They were calling for an inch here, but nothing yet. In Fredericksburg (about an hour north) they are getting hammered. DC got a good amount, too.
I love snow, but like Jo said, better to be where you can only look at it instead of driving in it!
Take care and don't shovel too hard!:D

looking forward to seeing those pictures!!!!!!
be careful and DO NOT overextend yourself when shoveling that cold wet nasty stuff.....................

By the way the high here today was 80
Our 6-8" of snow mostly disappeared after the temp went to 40 and the rains came. Theres still snow covering the ground but it isn't very photogenic. The second storm is due to hit tonight- start as rain then to snow as temp drops. Total expected from 2nd round another 6-8 but I'll believe it when I see it!
tune in tomorrow!

After dire predictions of the end of Western Civilization here in the Peoples Republic of Connecticut we are quite disappointed with the lousy three inches that fell on Saturday. In any case it is quite scenic. Now, to shovel the driveway.
Just by comparison I have a photo of the same tree from last year and this year as of about 5 min ago.It rained most of the night, changing over to a mix at about 5:45, and as you will see, all snow now. We'll start with last year's December storm.
I should probably post this in the Christmas lights thread but I don't want to become redundant all over again!:D :D :D
The snow has stopped just west of Boston!
This is a snow drift that blows off my roof! Its about 3.5 feet deep! We got about 18 inches hear! My back is killing me!
By mid week it is going to be close to 50 degrees and rain. Can you say flood!
Better you than me Mikey! :D :D :D
The winter has just started Harry! It could be the other way around next time!
I bought my first snow thrower this year and just got to try it. We have 10 inches of snow, my new toy worked great. Clean up took half the time as shoveling. An added bonus is my older son has his first car so he did most of the snow clearing to get his car out.

That was a rasberry for Harry, rbaker and everyone else who didn't have to dig out. ;) Did you ever notice that a Nor'easter always has a sense of humor. The side of the car facing you always has barely a dusting along side it. Walk around to the other side and there's a two foot deep snowdrift.
You may notice my post to Mikey was around 3 in the afternoon. With a Nor'east storm the winds blow counterclockwise, and as a result, when it passes east of Nantucket the winds circle around and come across the Cape Cod Bay in bands of moisture (in this case snow!) It is a fact that these bands can hang around for hours after the storm passes. It can be clear in Plymouth and snowing like heck on the Cape. Thats what happened yesterday afternoon, and how we wound up with 6-8"....most of which arrived after my post to Mike. I was out there shoveling with the rest of you but did manage to see the end of the Patriots game with Miami! (how about those Pats!) If any of you watched the game, it was clear in Boston when Foxboro was getting the snow you saw. Now you know why!

76 degrees today...I am so jealous!! I want some snow!

Actually, the first snowfall in Northcentral PA hit, and I do mean hit on the first morning of BuckSeason.
At 8:45am I was looking across the valley from my rockledge stand at what looked like a wall of fog crossing the mountaintops. Of course, since it was only 20 degrees and too cold for fog, that first wave of snow blasted it's way through the Tioga.
The up side however, now with about a foot of snow on the ground, made those deer stand out!
A five pointer, a button buck and a doe. Not too shabby.

We hardy New Englanders don't want to imply that the snow is a bother. We just get out there with the ole snow blower and get down to business. And, please, no comments about the lack of protective eyewear. Occasionally we old farts just have to live on the edge. Harry and I used to run with scissors and we played football with leather helmets. Can't you tell.
that you knew.... and it IS a fact that I played football in a leather helmet- ( Wilbraham Academy 1954-56)- I have never tried to hide my age...........but where the heck did you ever find my picture?????
Eat your heart out Chip!.....lets face it ....some of us have weathered better than others!:D :D :D
