Question seg inset and total inset

I guess i'm confusing myself with the little stuff before my boards on thursday. For the life of me I can't remeber the difference between seg inset and total inset, I thought they were the same? Would thank anyone for explaining the difference for me.

    Hi Mike

Seg inset is the difference between hie distance and near PD...in otherwords how far the seg is to be inset from the distance PD. (monocular distance PD -monocular near PD)
Total inset is how far the seg has to be decentered in the frame for it to end up in the proper place. ( frame PD/2 - monocular near PD)
    Hope this helps

    Mike,
I will be taking the Fla. boards in April. After the test can you please send me a review of the test. The types of lenses used during the neutralization portion and lens ID, along with any other info. Good Luck...
