Redhot Jumper Calling All Optical Professionals!

    Hey all,

Anyone interested in being published online?

Ok, I realize some of you already write for major industry publications.

But, what about your own Web page devoted to your expertise, in addition to helping other optical professionals better understand their profession?

You don't have to be a distinguished member of the industry, just have some experience or knowledge you think others might be able to benefit from.

Submit 2 or more original articles (pertaining to the optical profession, of course) and I will build a section of laramyk.com devoted to you, your articles, and your expertise!

If it sounds like something you might be interested in, click here for more information. Post, or email me if you have any questions.

I'm still trying to come up with some type of additional incentive, but at this time there is none.

Thanks and can't wait to hear from you!

    - Keith "on a quest to build to best dang Web resource in the industry on a shoe string budget" Benjamin

sorry about stealing your M.O. there Jeff ;)

Keith, I'm actually trying to build my own website now. I got the domain name and everything and I feel like a loser because I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing. I'm using go-live which apparently makes things easy. I'm familiar with other adobe products like photoshop and premiere but I'm in over my head here. The site is not optically related and as of now it relates to nothing. I endeavour to learn.

    Keith,

not a big thing, but while I was cruising around in the 'teach' area I noticed a discrepency. In your article on Prism you state that prism is measured in 0-360, while the diagram of a layout chart is the old +/- 0-180 format. Should not one support the other?

    Ed,

GoLive is great product, it's what I used to do my page. I too have had to learn it from scratch. I used Photoshop/ImageReady to do the design work (which I also had to learn from scratch) and then did the HTML in Golive. Let me know if you come up with any specific questions, I'll see if I can help.

    JRS,

Thanks for pointing that out. I actually knew that was there I just haven't gotten around to going back and fixing it. We actually use the 180 system in the lab. Please, let me know if you find any other errors.

    Thanks,

    Keith

    Great Idea!

    Keith,
Don't get discouraged. This is a great idea and will grow in time. I would suggest that perhaps you could review some older posts done by our members and decide which would be good subjects for articles. Then contact the author to see if they could develop and article from their post by expounding a bit. There is a TON of great stuff in our pages.

    Good luck with this project.

    Thumbs up Who needs help?

My name is Thomas Stelter, I've been reading OptiBoard for a few months now, figured it was time to throw my hat in the ring. I'm the "Chief Geek" at FrameTrader.com which just launched at Vision Expo. Feel free to ask me any questions regarding web dev and design etc., be glad to act as a resource or guide.

Keith - great idea, I will be submitting some articles to you shortly for your consideration. I'm thinking along the lines of technology/hardware/software and how it pertains to practice management & retail shop management.

Biggest problem with small-medium size business owners regarding technology (at least from my past experience working with AOL, Gateway, PurchasePro) was that business owners want to know what will help them save time & money. The tech & software companies often promote neat features that look cool, but don't directly effect ROI.

Anyway, great idea & I'll submit a couple articles shortly for your consideration. Keep on chargin' ahead! You're site is looking better everytime I visit.

    Thomas

I believe the only optiboard posts published on the site are Harry A. Saake's Dispensing Tips. I obtained Harry's permission prior to publishing and was careful to use only his posts. He is credited for the article.

If you feel there is something I missed, please let me know, as I certainly would not intentionaly publish someone elses work without first obtaining permission and then giving due credit.
