Since we're talking about conventions (and since, sniff, it appears the only one I'll be making is SECO), is anyone going to the SECO conference in Atlanta?

Are you buying? If so when is it?
I guess it depends on what SECO stands for.
S.E.C.O. - Southeastern Council of Optometrists
When I started attending this event about 3 or 4 years ago, it didn't have much to offer Opticians (other than the presence of a lot of vendors). From the selection of classes I now see, it appears the organizers have realized there's a lot of us out here who will attend a conference if there's Optical CEs to be had...
To further describe SECO, it is sort of like a "mini" Expo. I actually find the display floor a little easier to manage than the floor of the Javitt's Center in New York (and Atlanta is just a tad less "busy" than New York- which is good, but there's no Broadway, either).

I'll be teaching two courses at SECO this year, both on Saturday.
1) Third Party Vision Plans: Sorting Out the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
2) Managed Care Contracting: Protecting Your Interests When Opportunity Knocks.
If you participate or are thinking of participating in managed vision care these might be useful to you. Of course, if you choose not to have anything to do with managed care then there's nothing here for you.
Please note: these courses are targeted at the predominantly OD audience. But there's plenty here for opticians.

My husband and I (both opticians) and our O.D. is planning on going down to SECO. I've never been to Expo but I think SECO is a pretty good show for everyone. I've went the past couple of years and have enjoyed it. We're staying at the Marriott. Hope to see some people from Opti-Board down there.
Have a good day,
Vicki
I too will be attending SECO. Just wish they gave away more freebies. They have really gotten tight with the goodies.
Hey Pete, ever head down to St. George Island? Go there every year.
Hi Pete!
The gang at Williams Consulting group will be there lecturing as well as placing a booth in the exhibit hall.
I will be 'manning' our booth for Williams Consulting Group so please make a plan to stop by to say "HI".
This goes for all other Optiboarders as well!
See ya' there!
I'll be there. Lecturing and then the exhibit hall. Hope to see some of you there.
This is, after all, my neck of the woods.

Actually, the proximity of St. George is one of the best features of living here in Tallahassee! Its about 90 minutes away, and we get down at least 4 or 5 times a year. Our office Christmas party is held at a large beach house on the island that we rent out for a weekend in November. What a blast!<FONT COLOR=#FF0000>"Hey Pete, ever head down to St. George Island? I've been attending SECO for over 20 years and have seen the show grow from a small one in the basement of the old Marriott Hotel into a major trade show. It's a little more low key than Vision Expo and all the major resources in the industry usually attend. Everything's much easier to get to there!
