...or is someone having a laugh?
Today we had a job for a patient called Olivia Twist.
What strange names do you get and do you wonder if someone is yanking your chain?

Believe it or not, I actually went to school with a person by the name of Michael Hunt!
I also came across some one in my early years of optics who's surname was spelt Wanka!
:drop: I even checked the phone book at the time, and yes it was in there! You would think they would have it changed wouldn't you? You should have seen the look on the optometrist's face when he saw the patient record card!
We actually have a patient named William Fartz.....can you imagine???

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.
With my last name "Treat" my wife lost many a nights sleep thinking of a name for our three children that wouldn't get hammered to death.
Some of the immediate dismissals:
Benjamin.....It's Ben A Treat!
Candy........Hi, my name is Candy Treat!
Adam.........What A DAM Treat!
Joshua .......Too close to Joshua Tree (the town)
etc., etc., & etc.
We ended up having three girls and using three traditional names Elizabeth, Natalie, and yes we also have an Olivia.
Well, I graduated high school with Robin Peters and her older sister was named Fonda. I have a yearbook to prove it too. How could you be any crueler than that?

Nice Parents!
My last name is Guess. You can imagine the jokes, puns, etc. I suffered through in my school years (I still get the occasional one to this day!). I still have a scar on my face due to my answer to a DI on my second day at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (Boot Camp) in San Diego. He asked me what my last name was.

My sister's best friend was Rose Bush! I'd a drop kicked my parents!

Many years ago in Seattle, I had a patient named Won Hug Lo, this patient's english was so broken that when he pronounced his name I had to go in the back and compose myself, I still laugh about that name.
