Spam emails

Ive just dumped an old email address due to the amount of spam it received. Ive just had a spam for Viagra and other meds on the newest of the email addresses i have collected over the years

Nothing strange there except the subject line which was
'bicoxcave astigmaaism byt' (note spelling mistake)

These terms could only have come from this forum, is anyone else having any problems, it would be a shame to think that using a valid reply address here will result in a spam problem.

Nope and i'm pretty sure that no one is harvesting address from the server. Most likely way would be if someone is clicking through to find addresses and that going to be a lot of work.

FWIW the email addresses used to register on OptiBoard are not publicly accessible or shared with anyone. The only exception would be if someone chooses to make their email address known in a post or their signature.

My email address is all over the place and I'm currently getting about 150-200 spam emails a day. Fortunately my firewall catches most of them and puts them into their own folder. However I'm considering using this service:

only one for viagara you must be lucky or may be just not
impotent (pun) enough i get at least three a day plus several
offering to make me grow several inches :hammer: but i think i'm tall enough:bbg: :bbg:
must try the spam arrest as i get between 50-100 of the damn things everyday.

No Jack im sufficiently impotent (especially after a few shandies) to get many of these per day its just that the subject despite its spelling mistakes made it obvious that this one had been received as a result of a post here.
I generally use spampal

but i am on my laptop recently and it isnt installed on here.
Its worth a try if anyone else is having problems and its free.

If it seems there is a problem with spam from using this site i may revert to one of my 'disposable' freebie email addresses.
