Anyone else finding probles with Comfortmax ?

Switched a pt from an IOT design (balanced) to Comfortmax due to insurance and my pt is not happy with the design change. Rx is 1/4 diop stronger add but the complaint is that old glasses are better. Exact same frame and measurements the same. Anyone else finding this complaint?

Sample size is too small. Who knows? Can the patient be more specific?

Yes I have had plenty problem with Comfort Max, I do not dispense them anymore and went back to Comfort DRx and W2+ as my lower tier Varilux. Essilor has to "20/happy" philosophy, and with the Max I think they leaned into that too hard and ended up with "20/meh". I've had many obvious design-related non-adapts (last time I experienced such an unsuccessful design was Ovation). Complaints are just that something is just "off", and reading not as easy. Every one of those I've had (probably about a dozen before I determined it was definitely the design's fault) I redesigned into Comfort W2+, and they had no problem thereafter.

    Sample size matters.

Lives up to its name in being comfortable, but God forbid the patient wants actual defined clear vision.

Currently only using it for patients whose foremost priority in PAL selection is comfort (usually due to discomfort with previous lenses of other design). They get briefed extensively when the sale is made and reminded on dispense regarding the quirks of the Comfort Max (including showing them Snellen chart + near card to verify acuities are as promised).

For an equivalent soft design PAL in terms of price but slightly better central zone clarity, I've been using Nikon, BBGR, or the occasional Hoya.
