Your favorite lensometer pin ink?

Recently bought some water based OptiSource blue ink. It's utterly worthless. Doesn't saturate the (new) pad well. Doesn't mark on ANY AR lens. Have tried repeated reapplications, soaking the felt for weeks, drops of Dawn dish washing soap...nothing keeps it useable.

Should I have gone oil based (and markedly more expensive) instead? Favorite brand? Dynamic Labs? Hilco? OptiSource? Anyone else??

Pitney Bowes postage meter ink. High viscosity. But it will stain your shirt sleeves.
