Stick out tongue Patternless Edger/Point of Sale Optical Software

    Hi,
Our dispensary is opening a finish lab and I was hoping to get some suggestions for a patternless edger. I've worked with a Weco, but it was a few years ago. I've also worked with the Gerber/Coburn Professional and Elite. I've heard good and bad about Santinelli...any suggestions?
Also, we are going to implement a new computer system and I am interested in finding out what kind of software is available and what's the best, etc.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Teri

    Teri,
there is I'm sure a lot of great equipment available, I am spoiled...I think that because we have used National Optronics 6E for three years, along with it's tracing unit, had a N.O. Horizon III before that, they are very quiet, edge all lens materials EXCEPT glass. but we do a glass rx job, once every 6 months. now, IF you do mostly glass, this isn't for you...but if you do poly and hi-index and need perfect sizing, and controled bevels, and in-machine grooving, this is IT ! okay, like I said , I'm spoiled...why don't you wait a couple three months and go to Vision Expo West, and see the various units. another reason I love the 6E is the eco factor, there is no water based residue to deal with...Go see it...and the others...
Now so far a POP software I've used the eyecom2 software for about 16 years, but it's so much better now than then, it's not inexpensive, but it works great... wwweyecom2.com will help..

RE: Point of Sale Optical Software

I would recommend getting the software from myvisionexpress.com. It is relatively inexpensive (only $895 for the whole location) and does everything that you would need. Also it comes with one year of FREE support and updates. You can order FREE demo by calling 877-882-7456 or www.myvisionexpress.com

    Check the product review forum....

    kteri,

The Gerber patternless edger was reviewed a while back and you can read it here

I understand that there is a new upgrade to the machine and that it's being installed today or tomorrow. Sean will review the upgrade as well after he gets a chance to work with it a while. Keep your eyes peeled for the new review.
