    Confused Vendor/Frame Rep Regulations

Is there anything that governs a frame reps interactions with an optical? I have an angry frame rep who wants to charge for time and travel to come to our office. She is angry her line of frames is not more prominent on our boards. She takes entitlement to a whole new level.

Pretty sure no, unless there's something specifically in a contract between you and the manufacturer/frame rep that may dictate something otherwise

Please, please tell us what line she reps so I never open an account with them. That's the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard of. Throw her out and call her boss.

I'm intrigued this is someone I want to meet. How does she walk around with those beach ball sized cohones. I'd love to have her come into my Optical but I can't image her squeezing through the doorway.

    Dear Frame Rep,
Please send me your new business card when you change companies. Because I won't be dealing with you then either.

Kick her to the curb. Sell off the inventory and be sure to contact the company and tell them why.

There is a lot of discussion here about frame companies. Equally important is the rep. I would always ask a new rep for something simple at the first meeting. Send me your business card if they didn't have them yet. Get a question answered, etc. If they didn't follow up. See ya. On the other side, I kept returns low. If I saw a rep at the end of the month, I'd give them the option to hold the order till after the 1st if they'd already made that month's quota. We have a responsibility to be fair with them also.

Reminds me of a story out of Japan a few years ago where the owner of a shop (non optical) would insist if you came through the door you had to buy something. He would even lock the door so you could not leave. Eventually he got arrested because he was harassing anyone who so much as window shopped and then were physically dragged into the store to buy something.

This rep will be fired but it sounds like she is on a slippery slope that needs couch time and meds.

Or is this the new paradigm for frame reps???

Did you know when you go to your supermarket that branded products pay for prominent shelf placement?
