I stumbled upon this. Any background information? They're at least trying to think their way around in the optical space. I like that.

drk's link is, I think, really good guerrilla marketing because:
"EssilorLuxottica has acquired Kibbutz Shamir’s remaining 50% stake in ophthalmic lens technology company Shamir Optical Industry Ltd. in a deal estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars. There is no available public press release from either company.
EssilorLuxoticca will now have 100% ownership of Shamir Optical. Before merging with Luxoticca, Essilor acquired a 50% stake in the company in 2011 for $130 million."

The collateral indicates:
"Why Shamir progressive lenses?
We love lenswear vendors that support the independent eye care community. That’s why we wanted to take a look at Shamir! They’re not like other vendors in that they don’t own labs or vision plans..."
"There are plenty of reasons to offer independent lenswear in your optical."
But Essilor owns 100% Shamir. So they are owned by Essilor, which owns labs and vision plans, and is not independent.

Anagram's Prosper offers some rebates when ordering lenses from specific progressive brands from specific labs. IOT and Nikon lenses were/are on it. Rebates around $40. IMO, the article is just marketing fluff to get you to use their Prosper program.
