Is it obligatory to utilize the services of an Eyemed lab, or do you have the option to make use of an in-house lab facility if you prefer to do so?

Depends on the state I believe, state of texas you can pick whichever lab you want i'm pretty sure
Florida is the same as Texas.
VSP's counter to the state law was issuing vision plans that only cover "VSP branded" options such as AR, PAL design, etc. Basically forcing you to use the insurance lab or the pt has to pay the co-pay for the non-VSP branded option.
When Eyemed was trying to get our office to join last year, they only allowed In-office finishing for Single Vision jobs. You also have to buy your stock lenses from them.

It does depend on state laws but your Doctors should be able to negotiate your contract with Eyemed. We have in-office finishing and can use any lab and products that we want. Do be prepared to get audited.
