    Frame adjustment advice

Hi, we have a customer who has been back a few times with an issue I don't remember encountering before. The left temple and the right nosepad of the frames is hurting them (too tight). This was a turboflex frame bought elsewhere and we have reglazed them. As I understand it, they have put on a bit of weight since purchasing them (I would have recommended a larger frame).

Has anyone comes across this particular complaint before, or suspects what the problem is in terms of the physics of the fitting?

    Thanks,
    Terrence

The left temple is to tight, pulling the right nosepad into the nose. Opticianry 101!

Thanks, we have bowed the left one out a bit. Do you think we should bow it out some more, and keep the right temple unchanged?

Gently lift the frame while looking at the bridge. Does one pad noticeably press into the affected side?

If so, it is probably a pressure issue where the temple pressing that side of their head is too tight and needs to be loosened; or the opposite temples adjustment behind their ear is too tight and pulling the pad into their nose too much.

Keep repeating adjustments until you can lift the frame with no pad favoring either side of their nose.

Once the pads are equallized and if it's still sensitive they'll sometimes need to wear another pair for a couple of days to let the pressure points sensitivity go away.

I've also played with the pads by flipping them upside down so to speak or changing them to another material and/or adjusting them away from their current position, but this is risky as the last thing you want is a broken pad arm.

Thanks all, today I've bowed the left temple out some more, and the right temple a bit also to square things up, and we'll see how it goes. I was taught to push on the outside of each temple towards the center to check weight bearing imbalances. Sure enough on this chap when pushing the left temple, the right nosepad was much more resistant to moving than the left nosepad was when pushing the right temple. That effect was much more even after my adjustments today.
