    Justice Done?

Let's just hope the sentence fits the horrendous nature of this crime!

Is it me or is the news getting increasingly bizarre? I feel sorry for the defense attorney in this case, talk about having nothing to work with! It strains credibility that someone could be this insensitive and stupid. Poor guy was a schizophrenic, had plenty of sadness in life already.

    Unhappy Wow

I just read about this and didn't have any idea that it was 4 months later she was arrested!
If the courts don't punish her to the fullest extent there is something very very wrong with our system!

If you have not read this horrible story you should look at the link Cindy supply.

All I can say is WOW!

I like the line that they should treat this for what it really was.. failure to render aid. Excuse me, that's all she is responsible for?
Just goes to show that extasy, pot and alcohol don't mix well.
What are some people using for brains??
I'll be interested to see what sort of sentence she gets.

See, there is something to be said for TEXAS justice!

In New York she would have recieved probation.

In California she would have receivd a new windshield.

And in some parts of rural Mississippi with the right jury she would have been given a big picnic to celebrate when she got off.

In Jackson we are now the fifth most dangerous city in the country and last year we had one person who actually did time for car theft in our capitol city. We have one person on death row from our capitol city. We have dozens of shootings, car jackings every week in our great capitol city.

    50 Years?? Was Justice Served?

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...d=519&ncid=716

She received a 50 year sentence. Do you think that is fair for her total disregard of a human life? The most astounding part to me is that if he would have received medical attention he would have lived! So sad!

His family is remarkably forgiving under the circumstances. I don't know that I could be!

What's even more bizarre is CSI (Thurs) had done almost that exact same scenerio - although the occupation of the offender was different. And that was LAST season.

Sorry Cindy, when I complimented Texas, only the jury had voted to convict in a short time. I thought sure she would fry given Texas's history in such matters.

I really would like to know something about the jury composition, bet it would tell you a lot about the sentence.

    Chip,
I think the only thing that prevented her frying was the fact that she was extremely "under the influence" at the time of the murder. I am not condoning what she did, but had she done that sober-she would have fried!

I believe that she would have done it sober, too. I think we all now know that she was a person of questionable scruples. At the very least she will be 77 when she gets out. Let's hope she doesn't get out in 5-7 years reformed. Let's hope the parole board doesn't forget the horrendous crime and her total disregard for human life anytime soon! After all, she will be eligible in 25 years!

    JRS,

Mallard's lawyers never disputed that she killed Gregory Biggs, 37, in the predawn hours of Oct. 26, 2001, after a night of drinking, smoking pot and taking Ecstasy.
She was arrested 4 months later.
