    Photochromics/sunglasses for pseudophakes?

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15747748/

Conclusion: Sunglasses that strongly decrease both deep blue light and rod photobleaching, while preserving photopic sensitivity and color perception, would provide upstream protection from potential photochemical damage in subjects at risk for AMD progression after cataract surgery.

How much acceptance do you encounter when recommending photochromics for "seniors"? Are we trying hard enough to recommend this feature?

It is with extreme irony that I ask this question, that has just come up: What do you tell a patient who swears up and down (liar!) that his new photochromics aren't as good as his old photochromics?

We made a Shamir PAL in 1.5 with Transitions this year, vs. a Varilux PAL in 1.5 with Transitions last time.

They should be the same or better. Not worse.

Is there any conceivable valid point, here? (Yes, the season is hot right now.)

Was his last pair tranisitions XTRA active? Transitions is about as good as its ever going to get now. Should be the same, Maybe he had a blue blocking AR in addition? Some of the super light sensitive folks by us even do xtra active and a blue blocking AR, a little much but they love it... High temp causes slow darkening as you alluded to. maybe he was in xtraactive before and didn't realize it?

Good do see you still Doc'ing Drk!
