    Different color A/R

Our lab has been constantly inconsistent one constant is the difference in A/R. They range from green, blue, and some purple. Some look really great some do not. I am to the point were I can never remake a single lens with A/R because the odd are the A/R wont match. I have never worked in a lab before so I was hope someone with experience can help me with why this is happening. One of my suspicions is that they are outsourcing to a different lab because they are having staffing issues but I cannot confirm that. The lab we use uses Crizal or so they tell us.

I am advocating that we change labs but that is all I can do.

Part of the cost of a high quality AR is consistency. But even then, there are numerous variables that can change the final reflex color slightly. Usually lenses are replaced in pairs for consistency not only in the AR stack, but also newness of abrasion resistance, base curve matching etc.

If the reflex color is inconsistent the process is inconsistent. The thickness of the layers is probably the culprit as well as not cleaning the chamber often enough or good enough. The techs running the equipment are at fault.

The color of the residual reflection is due to various elements, the index of the lens, the refractive index of the hard coat and certainly the correct conditions of evaporation of the layers. for example, if the AR system has vacuum leaks we will have a lower refractive index of the high index materials and at the same time a lower density of the layers which will cause detachment and/or splits of the AR
