What do you have written on top of your showcases

    Hello everyone,

I am interested to know what everyone has on top of their showcases.

Do you have have the brands written or logo plaques stuck on?

Do you have Price points or price ranges written?

    Do you have Male/Female/Unisex written

I understand this can differ from store to store but I had a conversation with someone recently and they mentioned that they are removing their Male/Women/Unisex signs because in 2023 it can offend some of their customers. I’m sure everyone knows what i mean by this.

Do you think that’s a legitimate concern? I would love to know your thoughts.

I removed sexist signs long ago. Yes it is offensive to some.
    I have logo plaques.
Frames have price tags, that need to be cut off. Non of those slip on tags for me!

Thanks for your input it does seem the trend is heading this way.

Although in my experience a lot of our customers ask when they walk in the store “where is your men’s or women” section.

Keeping all frames from a single brand together women and men can be confusing to some people since they will have to distinguish between the two vs looking at an entire showcase that’s entirely for their gender.

Good arguments on both sides but the trend is definitely changing to unisex.

Would you risk offending some people or cater to the majority?

Since you are the one that has to point them in the right direction, do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
I had a big burly guy come in some time ago, he sat down at a dispensing table that has Caviar sunglasses full of crystals displayed. I mentioned that they were for women, he said I'd like to try that one. OK have at it. He ended up buying 2 of them.

We have our frames organized by brand and not separated by gender. Just makes it easier for people to shop in whatever section they want. Of course we have some brands that are only for one gender and not the other, like Oakley has women's frames but they stink so we don't carry them.

However, I don't know why it would be sexist to have a sign that said Men's or Women's glasses.

Sexist: characterized by or showing prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex.
