Email I received from Professional Opticains of FL:
"Nevada Senate Bill 106 has been proposed by Warby Parker which will allow them to avoid any use of Opticians for their services being sent anywhere in the country. They are pushing to be omitted from opticianry laws and regulations in the manufacturing states, as well as the receiving states, arguing in the manufacturing states that the state should not control out-of-state sales, and then in the receiving state, that the manufacturing was done elsewhere..."
Should make it easier for real opticians to make a living.
lets see which politician votes yes aka who is getting some nice contributions from them.
Same could be said for others. Cell phones do marvelous things today!
If you read the bill I don't think it helps B&M opticians very much, unless you are routinely making glasses for people out of state. Just makes it easier for online retailers to sell glasses.

it will be interesting to see which magazine(s) 20/20, Eyecare Business, Vision Monday, et. al will show support for WP and still feature stories and press on WP like they have in the past......we opticians are watching......
If it passes, Warby will almost certainly get rid of all their licensed opticians in licensed states.
Getting rid of the need for licensing for Optical Dispensers (Australian for optician) was a prelude to Specsavers making their debut in Australia. The case was put to our relevant government bodies that there has never been any health or life-threatening issues as a result of incorrectly dispensed spectacles. Now, years later businesses are calling for the creation of relevant, credible training courses for, you guessed it, optical dispensers.
The initial euphoria of not having to employ the more expensive, qualified staff has given way to "why don't these people know what they are doing?".
Live by the sword, DIE BY THE SWORD!
