There are some optician who made single vision rx lenses by yourself in office/shop?

We used to have a mineral glass surfacing unit adjacent to our retail. It was in the 80's. My father had to shut it down after the advent of CR39, (resiLens)
Anyways, are you talking about the fastcast?
Fastcast or better an SGX table top small unit
Chanced upon a fastcast lenses. To be honest, it was not that great. In terms of everything.
Regarding the Coburn unit, I have no idea. Curious, is it possible for multiple indexes?
This is the real opticianry stuff I come here for. I think it all probably depends on a if it is worth it. What's its range? How long until it is paid off? How much maintenance will it need? How often will you need to run it and will it take up a lot of utilities? Is it easy to get rid of if you don't like or need it any longer (like an edger)? Are you going to AR coat these as well? Does it do aspheric designs? How long does it take to make a lens? Do you do one offs or do they have to be in batches?
To me, I think stock lenses are cheap enough that it is probably not worth it to have this in the office.
Thanks
Completely agree.
